Everlasting Kingdom: Unraveling the Bible’s Secrets

Seven Things Father (Yehovah) Loves!

How He Calls Us

Back Next Chapter 39 Preview: A careful study of the things that Yehovah hates will also reveal the things that He loves! The closer a person comes to hating the things that Yehovah hates, the closer that person’s mind is to becoming like Yehovah! Righteousness and wickedness are exact opposites—as far apart as the east is from the west. Anyone who has sufficient love, as demonstrated in the following seven points will ultimately come to know and love Yehovah (but perhaps by a different route than you suppose).

Missing Doctrines
INDEX

Psalm 45:7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness. So elohim [David], Your Elohim, has anointed You with the oil of joy more than Your companions.—The Gabriel Bible

Proverbs 10:2 Treasures gained by wickedness profit no one, but righteousness rescues from death.

Proverbs 11:5 The righteousness of innocent people will smooth their way, but wicked people fall by their own wickedness.

Proverbs 12:3 No one is established by wickedness, but the righteous are permanent, they won’t be removed.

Proverbs 13:6 Righteousness guards the path of the righteous, but wickedness undermines sinners.

Proverbs 14:32 The wicked are overthrown by their own wickedness, but righteous people have a refuge in death.

The Psalms and Proverbs provide incredible insight into Yehovah’s thoughts concerning what kind of people He wants to add to His very family—information scarcely found in the historic books, or the prophetic books, or even in the gospel accounts concerning Yeshua’s (Jesus’) life and parables. Solomon’s Proverbs reveal a great deal about why Yehovah works with the wise, but allows the wicked to perish. Proverbs 5 helps set the stage for Proverbs 6 that contains the focal text of this chapter.

Proverbs 5:1-2 My son, pay attention to my wisdom. 'Listen' carefully to my insight, 2 so that you act with foresight and speak with discernment.

You can’t put the blame on Satan because he is only serving as an X-ray machine that brings to light what lies within. Exposure to Satan’s sick mind tests a person’s resistance to evil.

Proverbs 1:23 Turn to Me when I warn you. I’ll pour out My spirit on you. I’ll reveal My 'thoughts' to you.

People may have been well instructed but “will die for lack of” paying “attention”! There is an important point that Yehovah made in this statement. He is carefully watching even “the wicked man” to see what he will do with his life, “and He ponders ALL his paths”!

Proverbs 15:3 Yehovah’s eyes are everywhere, watching the wicked and the good. [1]

[1] Compare to Zechariah 4:10 and Revelation 5:6

The fantastic “corollary” (something proved as a side effect) of the following seven abominations illustrates the very factors that make us worth saving!

Proverbs 6:12-19 Worthless and depraved people go around telling lies, 13 winking with their eyes, nudging with their feet and gesturing with their fingers. 14 Their twisted minds are constantly plotting evil and stirring up trouble. 15 So a disaster will strike them suddenly. They’ll be broken instantly beyond recovery.

16 There are six things that Yehovah hates, seven things are an abomination Him: 17 arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a mind that plots wicked schemes, feet that swiftly run toward evil, 19 a lying witness who gives false testimony and a person who spreads discord among family members.

Here is a list of the things that Yehovah finds to be abominable! Let’s look at them one at a time.

ABOMINATION #1: “arrogant eyes”: Actually, Yehovah hates the mind that is located just behind that smirky look on the face! Yehovah won’t save an arrogant person; a Satan look alike!

Ezekiel 28:15,17 You were blameless in your ways from the day that you were created until violence was discovered in you... 17 You became arrogant because of your beauty. Your wisdom has been corrupted by your quest for splendor. So I’ll throw you to the ground in the presence of kings so they can gaze at you.

Arrogance can just as easily come from thinking that your superior talent, wisdom, intelligence, wealth, or charisma (real or imagined), makes you more worthy than your neighbor. Most of this is due to the luck of the draw! Others are arrogant simply because they were born with the “right” skin color or are associated the “right” religious corporation. Yehovah will be able to eventually save some of these people, after their pride is smashed, but they will compete with a handicap. Of course if you do have a gift from Yehovah, view it as such.

Psalm 10:4 The wicked, as evidenced by the arrogant expressions on their faces, won’t seek Him. Elohim isn’t even a consideration.

Psalm 31:23 Love Yehovah, all His 'special' ones! Yehovah protects the faithful and fully compensates the arrogant.

Psalm 94:2 Rise up, judge of the earth; repay the arrogant what they deserve.

Psalm 101:5 I’ll destroy anyone who secretly slanders another person. I won’t tolerate someone who is arrogant and conceited.

Psalm 119:21 ou reprimand the arrogant, the cursed, who stray from Your Commandments.

Proverbs 16:5 Everyone who is arrogant is an abomination to Yehovah. Most certainly they will not go unpunished.

Isaiah 2:11-12 When That Day Comes* the arrogant looks of humanity will be humbled. The proud will be brought down, and Yehovah alone will be exalted. 12 Commander Yehovah will have a Day of Reckoning for everyone who is arrogant and proud, their pompous pride will become humiliation

On Judgment Day—The Last Day when Yeshua returns to judge the earth, the wicked will be burned up.

Malachi 4:1 There is certainly a day coming, burning like a furnace, when all of the arrogant and all the wicked will become chaff. The coming day will set them ablaze,” says Commander Yehovah. “It won’t leave so much as a root or a branch.

This passage from Daniel reveals the timing of Judgment Day.

Daniel 12:1-4 AT THAT TIME, Michael will take a stand, the great commander who stands for your people, and there will be a time of trouble [the Great Tribulation, worse than 536 A.D, The Worst Year In History], such as there has never been since the first nation up until that time, AND AT THAT TIME [during the “time of the end!”] your people will escape, everyone whose names are still found {niphal} recorded in the Book [of Life]. 2 The abundant number of people sleeping in the dust of the earth will awaken, some of them to everlasting life, and the others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever. 4 But Daniel, keep this message a secret, and put a seal on the book until the time of the end. Many will travel around quickly, and knowledge will greatly increase [Hebrew shoot!]

1 Peter 5:5 Young people, be submissive to your elders and clothe yourselves with humility, because Yehovah opposes the arrogant but gives favor to the humble.

You have heard the politically correct statement that “God loves the sinner but hates the sins”. That isn’t exactly helpful because you can’t be separated from your sins unless you repent of them. The love extended to a sinner only extends far enough to offer them an opportunity to repent. Salvation is not as complicated as it might appear, but it is virtually never taught in accordance with all of the pertinent Bible passages

Psalm 138:6 Tho Yehovah is exalted, He cares for the humble, but He remains distant from the arrogant.

ABOMINATION #2: “a lying tongue”: Yehovah said that all liars would end up in the lake of fire. He would seldom if ever call someone who is an habitual liar. Yehovah may call someone who still has this strike against them, so long as there is a degree of loathing of the behavior present for Him to work with. The reason that a compulsory liar makes no waves on a polygraph test is because they have seared their conscience with a hot iron! Yehovah said that He chose Israel because He thought that they would not lie!

Isaiah 63:8-10 He said, “Surely, these are My people, children who won’t defraud Me.” So He rescued them. 9 In all their distress He too was distressed, and the Messenger of His Presence [Yeshua] rescued them. In His love and mercy He reclaimed them. He lifted them up and carried them for many years in the past. 10 Yet they rebelled and grieved 'Yehovah’s spirit', so He turned against them as an enemy and fought against them.

Hebrews 6:18 so that thru two unchangeable things (and it is impossible for Yehovah to lie), we who have fled to Him for refuge can have strong encouragement to hold on tightly to the promise set before us.

Notice the special emphasis on liars!

Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the sinful, the unclean, murderers, male prostitutes, sorcerers, idolaters and all liars 'are destined for' the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”

I believe that the timing of this statement is quite relevant. This bold and unequivocal statement is for the time in history when all excuses will be nullified; after Yehovah has shown humanity powerful signs and wonders and destroyed Satan. Still, Yehovah doesn’t mince words about who He does not want to save. The last couple of chapters of Revelation are virtually the end of the story for liars. What else needs to be said?

ABOMINATION #3: “hands that shed innocent blood”: We might wonder why murder is in third position. Perhaps these seven abominations are in order of the difficulty involved in repenting of them, that is, the degree of difficulty needed to repent! A ruthless murderer might acknowledge his evil sooner than a liar. No one on death row says “kill me, I lied” (Commandment #6).

Matthew 5:21 You’ve heard that the ancients were told, ‘Don’t murder, and whoever murders is subject to the tribunal.’

Matthew 19:16-22 Someone came to Him and asked, “Good Sovereign, what good thing should I do to have eternal life ?” 17 He replied, “Why are you calling Me good? No one is good but One, namely Aloha [God]. But if you want to enter into eternal life, OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS” [2].

18 Then he asked, “Which ones?” So Yeshua told him, “Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony, 19 honor your father and your mother, and you must love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man told Him, “I have obeyed all of these since childhood. What else do I need?” 21 Yeshua told him, “If you want to become perfect, go and sell everything you own and give the money to the poor, and you will have a treasure in heaven, then come right back here and accompany Me”!

[2] Matthew 19:16-19

Romans 13:9 It also says: “You must not murder”, and “You must not commit adultery”, and “You must not steal”, and “You must not covet.” [2] And if anyone considers the other classes of commandments, they are summarized with this statement, “You must love [Gr. agapao] your acquaintances as yourself.”

[2] Matthew 19:16-19

Again, where are the first four commandments? Can ignorance of these be excused? It is apparent that Yehovah can determine the relative character of individuals without their even having any specific knowledge about Him. All that Yehovah needs to evaluate our spiritual potential is to sit back and watch how we treat one another!

ABOMINATION #4: “a mind that plots wicked schemes”: While King David continually thought on Yehovah’s Torah (Law), the wicked will with just as much zeal think in terms of satisfying their own selfish desires. These people may not let their thoughts turn into actions or they might vicariously relish seeing the people of the next category carry out their plots, possibly not wanting to risk personal harm. An entrepreneurial wicked man would both devise evil plans and perform them himself. These are the worldly wise.

In a similar way, righteousness is relative. Sometimes the righteous are only a little better than the wicked.

1 Peter 4:18 If the righteous barely enter life, 'what chance' do the spiritually destitute and sinners have?

Notice that Yehovah told Israel that they were being given the promised land—NOT because they were righteousness, but because the original inhabitants were so wicked:

Deuteronomy 9:5 You aren’t going into their land due to your righteousness or because of your integrity, but because of the wickedness of these nations, Yehovah your Elohim is driving them out from before you, so that He can carry out the 'promise' that Yehovah swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac and Jacob.

Psalm 5:4 You aren’t an Elohim who enjoys wickedness. You won’t even tolerate wickedness.

Psalm 7:9 Put an end to the evil of the wicked, and establish the righteous, righteous Elohim, who examines minds and emotions.

Psalm 36:4 They concoct wicked schemes while lying in bed, they deliberately choose the wrong path, never rejecting evil.

The wicked, by definition, “don’t despise evil”, tho a guilty conscience is an indication that rehabilitation may still be possible.

Genesis 8:21 Yehovah smelled the pleasing aroma. Yehovah told Himself, “I’ll never again curse the ground because of human beings since their thoughts are evil from their youth, and I will never again destroy every living thing as I’ve done. [1]

[1] The earth will take another pummeling soon, but it won’t be as destructive to life as the great flood!

Proverbs 21:10 A wicked person craves evil; from their perspective other people aren’t even a consideration!

In the end, the wicked can’t prevent the spirit that they were entrusted with from leaving.

Ecclesiastes 8:8 No one has mastery over their spirit to restrain it from leaving, and no one can prevent the day of their death. There is no doubt about that war, and wickedness won’t allow those who practice it to escape.

ABOMINATION #5: “feet that swiftly run toward evil”: These are people who probably don’t spend much time thinking about evil schemes because they are to busy enjoying whatever evil things happen to come their way. These are the peons who are used by those with the “wicked plans”.

Proverbs 10:23 Being evil brings joy to a fool, as wisdom does to a sensible person.

Proverbs 11:19 Righteousness leads to life, but anyone who ardently pursues evil pursues their own death.

Proverbs 13:19 A fulfilled desire makes life sweet, but fools detest turning from evil.

ABOMINATION #6: “lying witness who give false testimony”: Perhaps this evil is the one that caused Solomon to, at least poetically, ponder whether to count six or seven abominations. Habitual liars occupy abomination number two and would lie about anything, honesty not even being considered as an option. On the other hand, abomination number six—liars would reserve their lies for more strategic times to enhance their credibility. These liars lie specifically to hurt other people. (Commandment #9)

Deuteronomy 19:14-21 Don’t remove your neighbor’s boundary marker, set up in times past, as the inheritance that you’ll receive in the land that Yehovah your Elohim is giving you to possess. 15 “One witness is insufficient to convict someone of a crime, or any sin they can have committed. A case must be confirmed with the testimony of two or three witnesses.

16 If a false [hamas] witness accuses someone of a crime, 17 then both of the people involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of Yehovah and before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time, 18 and the judges must complete a thoro investigation. If the witness lied, and falsely accused another tribesman 19 then do to them what they had attempted to do to the other tribesman. This is how you’ll purge such evil from among you! 20 The other people will hear about it and be afraid to commit any such evil among you. 21 See that you show no pity, repay a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, and a foot for a foot.

ABOMINATION #7: “a person who spreads discord among family members”: Virtually everyone, except for that guy stuck out on a deserted island, has “brothers”, or as I put it “family members”. They are not necessarily spiritual family. There are a variety of possible motives that could cause someone to sow discord, but all of the motives are abominable. It would be better if they had never drawn the breath of life.

Again, the point not to be overlooked is that all of these abominations pertain to interpersonal relationships! It would be very difficult, if not impossible, to perform these evils if you were alone on a deserted island! None of these abominations are directly related to breaking one of the first four of the Ten Commandments! The first four of the ten commandments would logically be the most important, pertaining to our relationship with Yehovah, so why is a relationship with Yehovah not found anywhere on the list of abominations? The answer is that these are seven standards that Yehovah measures everyone by, the unconverted as well as us, prior to our calling—one standard for everyone. Understanding these things is not reserved for the spiritually aware. Yehovah installs a basic sense of fairness into every conscience. Humanity understands that we alone, as creatures of the earth, are aware of our existence. Yehovah revealed that there is a common “spirit in mortal mankind”:

Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in mortal humanity [1], and the breath of the Conqueror gives them consciousness.

[1] There should be a simple and short definition to differentiate the human spirit from the conscience. I suggest that the human spirit is simply for the purpose of self preservation. This would include concern for offspring, but with little difference from the animals other than some bells and whistles, while Heart or conscience includes various degrees of concern for others: ‘others preservation”, as manifested by the last six Commandments.

Yehovah considers every person before selecting prospective Sons of Elohim.

It is important to point out that of those people who Elohim decides He may be able to convert—knowledge of the first four commandments must eventually become part of a higher standard of acceptance. If you remain loyal to these ten points of love, then you have achieved the minimum standard!

The seven abominations are listed in the context of obeying all six of the commandments pertaining to human relationships, because they illustrate the exact opposite behavior and thought patterns of the wicked. There is an enormous advantage to learning these things in your youth from your parents.

Proverbs 6:20-23,30-32 My son, obey your father’s Commandments, and don’t reject your mother’s Torah. 21 Keep them in mind constantly; tie them around your neck. 22 When you walk around, they will lead you. When you sleep, they will watch over you. When you wake up, they will advise you, 23 because the Commandments are a lamp and the Torah is light; and the warnings from discipline are like a highway leading to life... 30 People don’t despise a thief who steals when they are starving. 31 But if they are caught, they must repay seven times as much; even if they have to forfeit everything in their house. 32 The man who commits adultery with a woman is out of his mind. He’s destroying his own life.

Proverbs 8:12-13 “I, wisdom, live with prudence. I accompany knowledge and discretion. 13 The reverence of Yehovah is hatred of evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the way of evil and twisted speech.

THE OPPOSITE OF EVIL

Here are the COROLLARY principles resulting from these seven abominations. The exact opposite of these evils illustrate the very things that Yehovah loves!

1) Rather than being haughty:

People who capture Yehovah’s affection will tend to have more humility. Certainly we can acquire more humility, but the people who Yehovah will desire to share the first four commandments with, by the stage in their life when they are called, will have acquired an uncommon degree of humility. Some will have to experience the sorrows associated with evil, others skip that step and learn by observing the mistakes of others, rather than by personal experience.

2) Rather than being liars:

Honesty will be an identifying sign among the special people whom Yehovah calls. This is a truly rare virtue.

3) Rather than being murderers we must agonize over such things:

Yehovah highly regards those who “sigh and cry” over the slaughter and suffering of innocent people, whose blood has soaked the earth beginning with the very first family. We must long for a change in the world or we will not participate in that change. We must love the lives and seek the well being of all of those who will some day be in Yehovah’s family.

4) Rather than making wicked plans:

Yehovah loves a mind that devises virtuous plans. All day long, our meditation should be on doing everything that we set out to do in a manner that considers the needs of other people as much as our own needs. We had to understand this before Yehovah considered calling us.

5) Rather than seeking out evil:

Yehovah seeks to call, (or in the case of unenlightened gentiles” to “excuse”Romans 2:14, John 15:22) those whose feet are swift in running away from evil! Yehovah can’t create an effective son out of a self centered person. Job was about as good as we come:

Job 2:3 Satan replied to Yehovah, “I’ve been 'roaming' thruout the earth and walking around on it.”

Yet it took a real beating for Job to move to the next level:

Job 42:5-6 I had heard of You by hearsay, but now I’ve seen You with my own eyes. 6 So I abhor myself and I repent in dust and ashes.

More good vs evil:

Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil and do good. Search for peace, track it down.

Psalm 37:27 Avoid evil and do good, and you’ll live forever!

Psalm 97:10 Those of you who love Yehovah hate evil! He protects the lives of His ''special' ones' and rescues them from the grasp of the wicked.

6) Rather than giving false testimony

Yehovah will save those people who would not speak even the truth, if that truth would unnecessarily harm an individual, thus elevating the “righteousness” of the storyteller. The person who Yehovah is seeking would not even consider being a false witness to harm someone.

No one is saved yet, but we “shall be saved”.

7) Rather than spreading discord among family members.

Yehovah will save people who endeavor to spread harmony within His family. Yehovah wants unselfish team players! Loyalty is the first virtue that Satan lost once vanity set in.

So why does Yehovah call some, revealing some of His very objectives to them? On numerous occasions I have heard from the pulpit and from conversations the statement: “The first question I want to ask Yehovah in the resurrection is—why did you call me?” The answer is that Yeshua is selecting His prospective Sons based on love! Yehovah is love, meaning that everything He does is based on love. Our calling is based entirely on our capacity to love Him in return. Initially, Yehovah determines this solely based on how we love our fellow man.

At this point you might think that the following quotation of Yeshua makes the point as far as your fellow disciples are concerned:

Matthew 25:40 The King will reply, ‘I can say with certainty that whenever you did anything for one of My brothers, who others thought of as insignificant, you did it for Me.’

Actually this verse is being applied to non believers on Judgment Day as they are being shown great mercy! Interpersonal relationships as expressed in the last six of the Ten Commandments are the very criteria that Yehovah uses to judge His uninformed children by on Judgment Day, but that astonishing truth is explained in Are the “Unsaved” Lost?.

Showing love to our brothers is far more important for Disciples. If a supposedly converted person will not show love to commandment keeping “brothers” then Yehovah is not in that person’s life! Not belonging to the same corporate group is not remotely an excuse.

Yehovah looks solely on our thought processes to select us! Yehovah is not influenced by our ethnic background, our physical beauty, our age or our bank account, as humans are. If you hate evil enough—then you will also love the way of love enough for Yehovah to greatly desire you. There are no secret virtues that Yehovah did not mention in His word that He uses as criteria in judging us, nor are there any special combinations of character traits that put us over the hurdle. The standard is simply this: Do you love your fellow man? If you truly love your neighbor then there is absolutely no doubt that you will love Yehovah when He reveals Himself to you! Love, as defined in the points written in stone, by Yehovah, is all that Yehovah needs to select His Sons!

James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves to Yehovah. Resist Satan and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to Yehovah and He’ll come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and dedicate your minds, you ambivalent.

However understanding what Yehovah wants in an eternal relationship is only academic if you are not willing to grow in love. If at any point you think that you are close enough to Yehovah that no more growth in the relationship is necessary, then your salvation is in jeopardy! If, after you review this list, you begin to praise yourself, then you may not be on the list!
