The Testimony of Yeshua

HEBREWS 8-13 (Gabriel Version)

Introduction

Hebrews 8: The main point is that we have a High Priest who is seated on the right hand side of the throne of the Majesty, in the Heavens. 2 He is the temple priest of the dedicated Place, the true tabernacle that Yehovah built, not man. 3 Every high priest is appointed to offer offerings and sacrifices, and it was necessary for this One to have something to offer as well. 4 If he were on earth, he wouldnt even be a priest, because there are priests here who offer offerings prescribed by the Torah. 5 They minister to patterns and shadows of their Heavenly counterparts, just as Moses was told when he was about to build the tabernacle, “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain”. 6 But now, Yeshua the Messiah has attained a more excellent public service, since He is the Mediator of a more excellent covenant, one that was legislated with better promises than the former.
7 If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need to look for a second one. 8 Finding fault with THEM He said, “Look, the days are coming, says Yehovah, when I’ll enact a New Covenant with the descendants of Israel, and with the descendants of Judah. 9 It wont be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors during the time when I took them by the hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt, because they didnt remain loyal to My covenant and I rejected them, declared Yehovah. 10 But this is the covenant that I’ll enter into with the descendants of Israel after that time, says Yehovah, I’ll put My Torah in their minds—inscribing it on their innermost thoughts. I’ll be their Aloha and they’ll be My people. 11 No one will teach doctrine to their fellow citizens [evangelize] or a friend, or ask: “Do you know Yehovah” [witness to anyone], because they’ll all know Me, from the youngest of them to the oldest [1]. 12 I’ll be merciful regarding their wrongful behavior and I’ll no longer remember their sins”.
13 When He [Yeshua] mentioned, a New Covenant, He was saying that the first one was old and about to be repealed, and what was then old and failing, was about to disappear.
[1] People love to force fit one condition of Israel’s New Covenant into the here and now, citing verse 33 about the “new heart” (mind), pretending that at least this one verse of Jeremiah 31 has been fulfilled—without ever considering the many other conditions of the New Covenant, such as quoted in verse 11 above.
Hebrews 9: Of course the first covenant has [1] both Levitical services [2] and dedicated services and an earthly Dedicated Place. 2 The tabernacle that is set up has an outer part. In it is the menorah [3], the table and the show bread. This is called the Dedicated Place. 3 Behind the second veil is the part of the tabernacle that is called the Most Dedicated Place. 4 The golden censer and the ark of the covenant, that were completely covered with gold had been in it, as well as the golden urn that contained the manna, Aaron’s staff that sprouted, and the tablets that the covenant was written on. 5 Above it are the magnificent cherubim that overshadow the place for the atonement. But there isnt time to comment on each of the things in detail.
6 As long as these things were all still in place [4], the priests continually entered the outer tabernacle to perform their services. 7 The high priest enters into the inner part of the tabernacle only once a year—never with the blood that he offers for himself and for the sins of the people. 8 The dedicated spirit was indicating that the way into the Most Dedicated Place was symbolically hidden, as long as the first tabernacle was standing. 9 This is a figurative representation for the present time when both offerings and sacrifices are offered that are unable to perfect the conscience of those who are offering them. 10 These things only relate to food and drink and various washings that are mortal ordinances set up until the time when things are restored to normality.
11 But when the Messiah came, He was a High Priest with a gift that is truly a gift. He entered into a greater and more perfect tabernacle, that wasnt made by human hands and wasnt part of the same creation. 12 He didnt enter with the blood of goats and calves, but He entered into the Dedicated Place just once with His own blood and obtained eternal deliverance from our death penalty for us. 13 If the blood of goats and calves, with the ashes of a heifer was sprinkled on those who were Levitically unclean, and dedicated them as far as purifying our mortal bodies, 14 then how much more will the blood of the Messiah, who thru the eternal spirit offered Himself without blemish to Yehovah, cleanse our consciousness from dead works so that we can serve the living Aloha?
15 This is why He became the Mediator of the New Covenant—so that by means of His death He could become the ransom payment for those who had transgressed the first covenant, so that those who are called to the eternal inheritance could receive the promise.
16 When there is a last will and Testament, the death of the one who made it will cause it to take effect. 17 A will is only in force when someone has died, because it doesnt take effect as long as the person who made it is alive. 18 That is why even the first covenant wasnt confirmed without blood. 19 After Moses had spoken every ordinance to all the people, according to the Torah, Moses took the blood of a heifer, and some water, scarlet wool, and hyssop and sprinkled the scroll and all the people, 20 He said, “This is the blood that validates the covenant that Yehovah is binding on you”. 21 Similarly, he sprinkled blood on both the tabernacle and on all of the implements of the service, 22 because, according to the Torah, about everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there can be no pardoning of sins.
23 It was necessary for these copies of the Heavenly things to be purified with these things, but the Heavenly counterparts themselves have a far more excellent sacrificial victim than those. 24 The Messiah didnt enter into the Dedicated Place made by human hands, that is a mere copy of the real Dedicated Place, rather, He entered the Heavens themselves, to appear in the presence of Yehovah for us. 25 Nor was it necessary for Him to offer Himself often, the way the high priest enters into the Dedicated Place every year with blood belonging to another. 26 Otherwise He would have to have suffered repeatedly, since the beginning of the world. But now, at the end of the age, He has offered Himself once by His sacrifice to nullify sin. 27 People are destined to die once, then later they face Judgment Day. 28 So the Messiah also, having been offered once, was placed on the altar for the sins of many, and He’ll appear a second time, without sins, for the eternal Life of those who expect Him.

[1] Most of this description, including the first covenant comment and comments in chapter 10 were written in present tense (despite modern translations), because there were Temple services until 70 AD. [2] The Catholic Mass is meant to be a “priestly service”—with Yeshua being a continual sacrifice. The wafers that the participants receive are said to be His actual flesh. Hence “church services”. [3] This was no ordinary “candlestick” or “lamp stand”. It was the menorah, tho it’s rare for any version to admit to it anywhere, but this Hebrew word is common in the Tanakh (“the Old Testament”). [4] The ark of the covenant and many other artifacts were lost/hidden when the first Temple was destroyed. The second Temple, then in use, made do without some of these things, or made replacements.

Hebrews 10: The Torah contains a foreshadowing of the good things to come. They arent an exact likeness of the things themselves. So, altho the same sacrifices are offered every year, they can never make those who offer them completely perfect. 2 If these sacrifices could perfect them, they would have stopped sacrificing long ago. The worshipers, once cleansed, would no longer have consciousness of sins. 3 But because of those sacrifices, they are reminded of their sins every year. 4 Yet it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to remove sins.
5 So when He was about to enter the world He said, “You didnt want sacrifices and offerings, but You’ve equipped Me with a body! 6 You never wanted entire burnt offerings because of sins”. 7 Then I said, “I came to do Your will, as the Scriptures say about Me at the head of a column of the scroll, O Yehovah”! 8 After making the above statement, “You didnt want sacrifices and offerings, (that were offered according to the Torah)”, 9 He then said, “I have come to do your will, O Yehovah”! So He is taking away the first, so that He can establish the second. 10 By His will we have become devout thru the offering of Yeshua the Messiah’s body, once and for all.
11 Every high priest stands and serves daily, repeatedly offering the same sacrifices that are never enough to take away the guilt of sin. 12 But this High Priest offered one sacrifice for sins, and sat down at the right hand of Yehovah of all time. 13 Since the time [of His sacrifice], He has been waiting for His enemies to be placed as a footstool under His feet. 14 With one offering He has perfected for all time those who are now dedicated.
15 The dedicated spirit also confirms this, as it was previously written: 16 This is the covenant that I will give them after those days, says Yehovah, “I’ll put My Torah into their intellect, and write it in their minds”, 17 and their violations of the Torah and their sins, I’ll remember no more. 18 When there is a complete pardoning of sins, an offering for sin isnt required.
19 So Friends, we can confidently enter the Dedicated Place because of the blood of Yeshua, 20 by a new way of life that He has initiated for us to go thru the veil, that is His flesh. 21 We have a High Priest over Aloha’s house. 22 Let’s draw near with sincerity, fully confident in our convictions, with our minds sprinkled [purified] and cleansed from evil thoughts and our bodies bathed in pure water. 23 Let’s persevere in admitting our convictions without wavering, because the One who made the promise is faithful. 24 Let’s contemplate ways to prod others into love and good works. 25 Let’s not abandon our assembling in synagogues [epi-sunagoge], the habit [Gr. ethos] of some, rather encourage each other, and even more so as you see the Day of Yehovah approaching.[1]
26 If we habitually sin after having received a correct knowledge of the truth, then there is no longer a sacrifice for sins— 27 just the terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire that consumes the adversaries. 28 Anyone who disregarded the Torah of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses, 29 how much more severe do you think the punishment will be against someone who has trampled on Yehovah’s Son and has considered the blood of His covenant—that He has dedicated—as the blood of just anyone else, and has insulted the spirit of compassion? 30 We know who it is who said, “Retribution is mine, and I’ll repay”, and also, “Yehovah will judge His people”. 31 It is very terrible to fall into the hands of the Living Aloha!
32 Always remember, in the beginning, when you were first immersed [2], how you went thru great conflict and suffering. 33 You were treated with contempt, and made a public spectacle, as were your coworkers who also endured these things. 34 You grieved for those who were imprisoned, and you cheerfully endured when your goods were plundered, knowing that you have in yourself a more valuable possession, and one that is permanent.
35 So dont throw away your confident assertiveness since it is greatly compensated. 36 You really need patience so that you can do Yehovah’s will and receive the promises. 37 “Soon, very soon, the One who is coming will arrive, and at the appointed time [3]. 38 The righteous will live in fidelity with Me, but if anyone timidly hesitates to acknowledge Me, My inner self [psuche (psyche)] wont be favorably inclined towards them”. 39 But we arent hesitant people who will perish, rather, we live in fidelity, gaining possession of our inner selves.

[1] As Paul mentioned in his opening statements (Chapter 1:2) he believed that he was living in the “last days”. This influenced much of what he said, particularly since he thought that the New Covenant with Israel was about to be implemented (chapter 9, and verses 16-18 above). Only a tiny minority are converted now, so until the Restoration we must still announce the Good News and be His witnesses, until chapter 8:8-10 above, especially 10 is really fulfilled. [2] Greek copyists brazenly substituted “enlightened” here, instead of “immersed”, just as in chapter 6:4. [3] Verses 37-38 are paraphrased from Habakkuk 2:3-4. “At the appointed time” is directly from Habakkuk.

Hebrews 11: Conviction of the truth is considering things presently anticipated as if they were a present reality, accepting invisible things as evidence. 2 The ancients are a confirmation of it.
3 By conviction we understand that the planets were framed by the Word of Aloha, and that the things we see originated from the unseen.
4 By conviction, Abel offered Yehovah a better sacrifice than Cain did, and because of it, we have confirmation that he was righteous. Yehovah gave the confirmation by accepting his offerings, and as a result, tho he is dead, he still speaks.
5 By conviction, Enoch was transferred [or changed], and didnt experience death, he simply vanished, because Yehovah had transferred him. Before He transferred him, there was confirmation that he pleased Yehovah. 6 But without conviction, it is impossible to please Yehovah, because anyone who comes to to Yehovah, must believe that He exists, and that He compensates those who diligently try to find Him.
7 By conviction, when Noah was told of things as yet unseen, he was awestruck. He built an ark for the preservation of his household, and by doing so, he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by conviction.
8 By conviction Abraham, when he was called by name, heard that he was to leave home and go to a place where he would receive an inheritance, so he went out not knowing where he was going. 9 By conviction, he became a resident in the land that was promised to him, as in a foreign land, and lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs sharing the same promise. 10 He continually looked forward to the city that has the foundations [1], whose technician [technites] and builder is Yehovah.
11 By conviction, Sarah also, who was sterile, acquired the ability to have children, tho she was past the time of life for this, and gave birth because she firmly believed that the One who had made the promise was trustworthy. 12 From one man who was failing due to age, a great number like the stars in the Heavens were born, and like grains of sand on the seashore that are beyond counting.
13 They all died in their convictions. They had not received the promised blessings [2] but they perceived them in the distance, were convinced of it, and admitted that they were foreigners living out of place on earth. 14 Those who say these things make it apparent that they are seeking a city. 15 If they had wanted the city that they left, they had the opportunity to return to it. 16 Yet it is apparent that they wanted a better city than that, namely, the one that is in Heaven [3]. So Yehovah didnt refuse to be called their Aloha because He has prepared the city for them.
17 By conviction Abraham offered Isaac, during his test, and he laid his only son on the altar, the one he had received as a promise, 18 even tho he had been told concerning him, “It is thru Isaac that your descendants will receive their name [4]. 19 He had reasoned that it was within Yehovah’s ability to raise him from the dead, and as if in a parable [parabole], he got him back.
20 By conviction Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in what was yet to occur. 21 By conviction when Jacob was near his death, he blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped while leaning on the top of his staff. 22 By conviction when Joseph was near death, and aware of the departure of the descendants of Israel, he gave direction concerning his bones. 23 By conviction Moses’ parents hid him for three months after his birth, because they saw that he was a proper [5] child, and they werent deterred by the king’s edict.
24 By conviction, when Moses became a man, he refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to suffer with the people of Yehovah, rather than enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin, 26 because he considered that being insulted for the Messiah’s sake [6] was a greater treasure than all of the treasures of Egypt, and he focused his attention on the compensation to come. 27 By conviction he left Egypt, and wasnt frightened by the king’s anger, and he maintained his course, just as if he saw the invisible Yehovah. 28 By conviction he instituted the Passover, and the sprinkling of blood, so that the One who was to destroy the firstborn wouldnt approach them. 29 By conviction they crossed the Red Sea, as anyone would on dry land, but the Egyptians were swallowed when they dared to enter it. 30 By conviction the walls of Jericho fell to the ground, after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By conviction Rahab the prostitute didnt perish along with the disobedient, when she welcomed the spies in peace.
32 Why should I say more? I dont have time to tell the full story of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephtha, David, Samuel, and the prophets, 33 who, by conviction, conquered whole kingdoms, brought about justice and virtue, attained promises, and shut the mouths of lions. 34 They extinguished the relentless forces of fires, escaped being killed by the sword, were healed of diseases, became valiant in battle, overthrew the camps of enemies, 35 whose women regained their children by a resurrection from the dead. Others were put to death, being tortured, not even hoping to be rescued [7], so that they could secure a better resurrection. 36 Others were tested by being mocked and whipped, others were chained and imprisoned, 37 they were stoned, they were cut in half, they were killed with swords, they roamed around clothed in sheep and goat skins, and were destitute, distressed, and tormented. 38 The world was not worthy of them, yet they wandered in deserts and mountains, or hid in caves and fissures in the earth.
39 None of these honorable witnesses received their promised blessings, 40 because Yehovah has determined that it is better that they not be made perfect and complete beings without [ahead of] us.

[1] It is evident from these passages that he was already aware of New Jerusalem (Revelation 14:21,19. [2] The promised land of Genesis 22:16-18 is one of the promises. [3] The city of New Jerusalem, an additional promise, will be ours when we’re “made perfect” (resurrected) (verses 39-40)—not 1000 years later. [4] Saxons can be translated as “sons of Isaac”. [5] I suspect that something was lost in the translation here, or that there is an untold story. [6] In case there is any doubt, Moses knew the One who was to be the Messiah quite personally. [7] Aramaic: “not hoping for deliverance” (or “to escape”), Greek: “refusing deliverance” or “ransom”. Presumably the torture was an unsuccessful attempt to get them to recant.

Hebrews 12: Since we are surrounded by a vast cloud of witnesses, let’s throw aside the ever present encumbrances and sins, and let’s run the race before us with continuous endurance. 2 Let’s look to Yeshua. He has become the Pioneer who set the standards for our convictions, who, because of a joyful destiny endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand side of Yehovah’s throne. 3 Think about how much He endured from sinners, from those who are their own adversaries, so that you wont become discouraged, or exhaust your psyches.
4 You havent yet stood in opposition, in the fight against sin to the point of shedding your blood. 5 You’ve forgotten the admonition that tells you, as if you were children, “Son, dont disregard Yehovah’s chastening or allow your your psyche to become exhausted when He disciplines you, 6 because whoever Yehovah loves, He disciplines, and He disciplines those sons who He acknowledges as His own”.
7 So endure the discipline, because Yehovah is dealing with you as with sons. Is there a son whose father doesnt discipline him? 8 But if you are left without discipline, and every true son has experienced discipline, then that is evidence that you are illegitimate children, and not true sons. 9 Our human fathers disciplined us, and we treated them with respect, so shouldnt we be even more submissive to our Spiritual Father [1] and be Rescued? [Only He can.] 10 They disciplined us for a short time the way that they wanted to, but Yehovah disciplines us for our benefit, so that we can share His dedication. 11 Now, at the time, discipline doesnt appear to be a joyful experience, but a painful one, yet later it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have gone thru the exercise.
12 So straighten your deformed hands and your degenerate knees, 13 and straighten out the wheel ruts in your path, so that the limb that is lame wont be dislocated, but will be healed.
14 Run swiftly in the direction of peace with everyone, and toward devotion. Without those, no one will see Yehovah. 15 Carefully watch for anyone among you who might be falling behind in the compassion of Yehovah, to prevent some root of bitterness from shooting up and disturbing you, and contaminating many others. 16 See to it that none of you are prostitutes/adulterers/fornicators [pornos], or are thresholds for evil like Esau, who for one meal sold his birthright. 17 You know that later, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, because he never found an opportunity for undoing what he had done, altho he earnestly searched for one, with tears.
18 You havent come to the actual mountain ablaze in fire, or to gloom and darkness and storm, 19 or to the sound of the trumpet, and the sound of the voice, that those who heard withdrew from so as not to hear anything more being spoken to them. 20 They couldnt bear hearing what was commanded. And even if an animal approached the mountain, it was to be stoned. 21 So frightening was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear”.
22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living Aloha, to the Jerusalem of the Heavenly regions, to the assembly of one hundred million spirit Messengers, 23 and to the festival assembly of the firstborn ones, whose names are recorded in Heaven, and to Yehovah the Judge of everyone, and to the spirits of the righteous who are perfected, 24 and to Yeshua, the Mediator of the New Covenant, and to the sprinkling of His blood that reveals more advantages than that of Abel.
25 Be careful not to refuse to listen to the One who is speaking to you. Because if those who ignored the One who spoke with them on earth didnt escape, how much less will we if we ignore the One who speaks to us from Heaven, 26 whose voice shook the earth as if by a great wind, but now we have His promise, “Once again, I’ll not only move the earth, but Heaven also”. 27 By His saying, “Once more”, it indicates another major rearrangement of the things that are moved, because they were created so that the things that wont be moved can remain unchanged.
28 So, since we’re receiving a stable Kingdom that is immovable, let’s hang onto His loving kindness, so that we can serve and please our Aloha with reverence and fear, 29 because Aloha is a consuming fire.

[1] Etheridge considered the Aramaic text to have been altered because Father is plural. Father is singular in the Greek, but apparently reads “Father of spirits”, an attempted fix?

Hebrews 13: Love for our Friends should remain unchanged. 2 Dont forget to be kind to strangers, this is how some have been considered worthy of having spirit Messengers as their guests without knowing it. 3 Remember prisoners as if you were in prison with them, and remember those suffering adversity, since you yourselves are still made of flesh.
4 Marriage is precious for everyone, and their beds are undefiled, but Yehovah will judge the sexually impure and adulterers. 5 Your lives should be untainted by the lust for money, be content with what you have, because Yehovah Himself has said, “I’ll never abandon you or withhold My helping hands from you”. 6 We should confidently be saying, “Yehovah helps me, I’m not afraid. What can people do to me”?
7 Remember your guides who told you the Words of Aloha. Consider how they lived out their lives and imitate their conviction. 8 Yeshua the Messiah is the same, yesterday, today, and for eternity.
9 Dont have ever changing opinions about strange and alien doctrines. It is noble for our minds to be established with compassion, rather than food, because people who have lived that way havent benefited. 10 We have an altar that the priests in the tabernacle arent authorized to eat from.
11 The flesh of the animals, whose blood the high priest brings into the Dedicated Place for sins, is burned outside of the assembly of Israel. 12 That’s also why Yeshua, in order for Him to purify His people with His blood, suffered outside of the city. 13 So let’s also abandon the “church” [1] and endure being discredited as He was, 14 because we have no permanent city here, but we expect one in the future.
15 Let’s continually offer sacrifices of praise to Yehovah thru Him, that is, by the praises of our lips that give thanks to His Name.
16 Dont forget to do good for and fellowship with the poor [2]. These are the kinds of sacrifices that please Yehovah.
17 Confide in your guides, and listen to them [3], because they watch over your psyches as men who are obligated to continually account for you. They should be able to do it with joy rather than anguish, because that wouldnt be to anyone’s advantage.
18 Keep on praying for us, because we’re certain that our consciences are clear, and we intend to keep living commendably. 19 I especially ask this of you, so that I can return to you more quickly.
20 Now may Aloha who gives peace, who brought up the great Shepherd of the flock from the dead, by the blood of the everlasting covenant, namely Yeshua the Messiah, our Master, 21 fully equip you, in everything that you do, to carry out His will, producing in us the things that will please Him, thru Yeshua the Messiah. To Him belongs the splendor, to the ages of the ages! Aw-mane’.
22 Bear with me Friends, and patiently consider this admonition, because I have only written a short letter to you.
23 I want you to know that our Friend Timothy has been released, and if he comes soon, we will both see you.
24 Greet all of your guides and all the faithful. Everyone in Italy sends their greetings.
25 May His favor be with you all. Aw-mane’.

[1] This can actually read “abandon/come out of the assembly”, in the context of v.12 where Yeshua abandoned the hypocritical “church”/gang/assembly, and was crucified outside of the city for doing so!

[2] The Greek does not specify “with the poor”.

[3] The Greek to English versions generally read, “Obey those who rule over you”, a slanted translation.

End of the letter to the Hebrews that was written from Rome and sent by Timothy, Paul’s prison mate there.
