The Great And Awesome Day Of Yehovah
“The Great And Awesome Day Of Yehovah (the Lord)”
“The Spirit of Burning” — Isaiah 4:4

Chapter 3 Preview, PART 2: “The Great and Awesome Day of Yehovah” (Joel 2:31) is the most prevalent topic within all of Scripture! Nothing else comes close in terms of the sheer volume of Scripture devoted to it. Huge segments of the Major and Minor Prophets are devoted to it; most of the parables of Yeshua (Jesus*) directly pertain to this time. Most of the book of Revelation is devoted to it. The emphasis that Father placed on this event, along with the sheer VOLUME of Scriptures, silently SCREAMS for understanding. Find out what this “day” is all about now, before it’s too late—dont learn the hard way!

Sequel to: The Time After Jacob’s Trouble
Zephaniah 1:14-16 The great Day of the Yehovah is near; near and coming very quickly. The sound of the Day of Yehovah is so bitter that even mighty men will cry out. 15 That day will be a day of fury, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and deep darkness, 16 a day of SHOFAR blowing against the fortified cities and against the high corner towers. WE
Father will have created three Worlds before His Kingdom becomes the “everlasting dominion” that Daniel spoke of. World #1 was created for the angels but was later rendered “without form and void”, (literally “a desolation, worthless, an undistinguishable ruin, empty” ) by Satan and his former angels (Genesis 1:2). Very little is known about the first world, but we do know that “the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left [abandoned] their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the Judgment of the GREAT DAY....” (Jude 6) World #2 is the reconstructed planet, following Satan’s cataclysmic war with Father or some other cosmic disaster. This world began with Adam and Eve in Eden as is described in Genesis 1, but “the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water” (2 Peter 3:6). World #3 is “our present evil world” (Galatians 1:4 KJV) that Noah and his family lived into. They experienced two worlds! World #4, is the New Earth, it will also have survivors live into it from this world, following the great fire of The Day of Yehovah. While the survival figures are dismal, they are far more than the eight on the ark.
Matthew 24:38-39 Just as before the flood, they were eating and drinking, taking wives and giving them to husbands, up until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they didnt know until the flood came and took them all away; that is how it will be when the Son of Man arrives. GV
Isaiah 65 is possibly the most dramatic, most all inclusive, end time transitional chapter in the Bible. It starts out portraying Israel as a Satanic society, it moves to Father intervening in world affairs, and then crosses over the divide into the New Millennium where there is a New Heaven, a New Earth, and a New Jerusalem. Children are born there and it ends with one of the most memorable of all verses concerning the Everlasting Kingdom. “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like an ox....” (v.25).

Isaiah 66 is another dramatic end time chapter. This chapter also shows us that after the Day of Yehovah we will need to have a New Heaven and a New Earth.
Isaiah 66:15-16,19-21 Yehovah will come with fire ... 16 Yehovah will execute judgment by fire and with His sword on all ‘humanity’, and many will be slain by Yehovah. ... 19 and those among them who escape I will send to the nations: to Tarshish and Pul and Lud, who draw the bow, and Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands afar off who have not heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. 20 They’ll bring all your relatives from all the nations as an offering to Yehovah, on horses, and on chariots, and on litters, and on mules, and on dromedaries, to My dedicated mountain Jerusalem, declares Yehovah, like the descendants of Israel bring their offering in a ceremonially clean vessel into Yehovah’s house. 21 And I’ll also appoint some of them to be priests and Levites, says Yehovah. WE
These verses establish the Second Exodus context and there is no justification, here or elsewhere, for moving the New Earth verses (vs.22-24) to after the millennium.
Isaiah 66:22-24 “As the New Heavens and the New Earth, that I’ll make, will endure in My presence”, declares Yehovah, “So will your descendants and your name will also endure. 23 In the future, from one new moon to the next new moon , and from one Sabbath to the next Sabbath, all of humanity will come to worship before Me”, declares Yehovah. 24 “They’ll go out and look at the carcases of the people who have revolted against Me, because the maggots devouring them wont die, nor will their fire be quenched; and they’ll be abhorrent to everyone”. [1] WE
[1] Unfortunately, there will be a steady stream of wicked people being thrown into the fire every ‘moonth’ all thru the time of the “New Heavens and the New Earth”, keeping the maggots fed.
Lets have a closer look at Zechariah 14, a strictly “Day of Yehovah” chapter.
Zechariah 14:1-11 The Day of Yehovah is coming, [it’s not yet here it’s still the Tribulation] when your possessions will be distributed right in front of you! 2 I [first person: Father is speaking] will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; and the city will be taken, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half of the residents will go into exile, but the rest of the people wont be cut off from the city. 3 Then Yehovah [the Son] will go out and wage war against those nations, as He previously fought in battle. 4 And in that day His [Father’s] feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, that faces Jerusalem on the east. [This is not the Great Tribulation period, rather it is stated to be “The Day of Yehovah”: this is not the time when the wise flee for 1260 days!] And the Mount of Olives will be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley, [Yeshua is here now!] from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain will move toward the north and half of it toward the south. 5 You’ll flee by My mountain valley; because My mountain valley will reach to Azel; yes, you’ll flee just like you fled from the earthquake in the days of “Uzziah king of Judah. Yehovah my Elohim will come, and all of the dedicated ones with Him. 6 On that day, there wont be light, cold, or frost. 7 It will be a unique day that is known to Yehovah; neither day or night; but then when evening comes it will still be light. 8 On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem; half toward the eastern sea, and half toward the western sea; continuously in summer and winter. 9 Yehovah will be King over all the earth. On that day Yehovah will be the only one, and His name the only one. 10 All the land from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah, but Jerusalem will be elevated, from Benjamin’s gate to the site of the first gate, to the Corner gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. 11 People will live there, and there will longer be a curse; but Jerusalem will safely inhabited. WE
Contrast this flight account to Matthew 24, that clearly differentiates between the events of the first time period: “Pray that your flight isnt during stormy or rainy weather, or on the Sabbath. 21 There will be Great Tribulation, such as has never been from the beginning of the world, until now, and will by no means ever happen again.” (vs.20-21). And the second time period: “Immediately after the time of Tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon wont shed her light ...” (v.29).
Zechariah’s account is of Yeshua conquering Jerusalem. Matthew’s account tells us about the Abomination of Desolation conquering Jerusalem for 1260 days which necessitates our literal salvation (being salvaged). Daniel 11:41 also mentions this Abominator entering “the Glorious Land”.
Ezekiel Chapters 40-48 will be of particular interest to the Levites who will, yes, still offer animal sacrifices, but will also be made human judges immediately after the Day of Yehovah. Every event in these chapters particularly pertains to these men who are then made priests.
Ezekiel 44:22-24 They wont marry widows or women who have been divorced; they’ll only marry virgins descended from the house of Israel, or a widow who is the widow of a priest. 23 They’ll teach My people the difference between devoted things and what is common, and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean. 24 In a dispute the priests will serve as judges and they’ll adjudicate according to My ordinances. They’ll obey My Torah, and My statutes concerning My appointed Feasts; and they’ll consecrate My Sabbaths. WE
It is in this context, concerning the immediate aftermath of the Day of Yehovah, that we again see waters that heal coming from Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 47:1,8-9,12 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple; and there was water flowing out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east, (the temple faced east) ... 5 ... Afterward he measured another thousand; and it was a river that I couldnt wade cross; because the water had risen, water deep enough to swim in but too deep to walk thru. ... 8Then he told me, “This water flows toward the eastern region, and down into the Arabah; and into the Dead Sea. Once it flows into the Dead Sea the water ‘becomes fresh’. 9 In the future, swarms of living creatures will live everywhere the river goes; including very many fish; because wherever this water goes it makes sea water fresh. Everything is brought to life where the river flows. ... 12 On the river banks, along both sides, every kind of crop bearing tree will grow. The leaves wont wither, or fail to produce fruit; they will produce a new crop every lunation, because of the water that flows from the temple. The fruit will be for food, and the leaves will be used for healing”. WE
You may recall that Revelation 22:1-3 thoroly describes this river! Revelation 21 and 22 describes the New Heaven, the New Earth, the New Jerusalem and the new “river of water of life”.
The timing of these events is unmistakable.
Ezekiel 43:7 He said: “Son of man, this is the place where My throne is and the place for the soles of My feet, where I will live among the descendants of Israel forever. The house of Israel will no longer defile My dedicated name, neither they, or their kings, by their prostitution, or with the dead bodies of their kings in their high places of worship; WE
The priests in the New Jerusalem will be the actual descendants of the sons of Zadok.
Ezekiel 48:10-12This allotment will be dedicated to the priests; on the north side twenty-five thousand cubits in length, and on the west ten thousand cubits in breadth, and on the east ten thousand cubits in breadth, and on the south twenty-five thousand cubits in length; and the temple of Yehovah will be in the middle of it. 11 It will be for the dedicated priests, the sons of Zadok, who have obeyed My instructions, who didnt go astray when the descendants of Israel went astray, as the Levites did. 12 It will be their special allotment from the dedicated allotment of the land, the most dedicated part, next to the territory of the Levites. WE
Malachi 4 is another chapter which some would like to see “moved” by a thousand years. Yet it also has all of the characteristics of the Day of Yehovah. There is not a word that would suggest that it pertains to any other event or time! Here it is in its entirety.
Malachi 4:1-6 There is a day coming, burning like a furnace [nothing new about burning] and all of the arrogant, and all the wicked will be like chaff; [Babylon will also “be like chaff; the fire will burn them up; they cant save themselves from the grasp of the flames ...” (Isaiah 47:14)] Continuing: the day that comes will set them ablaze”, declares Yehovah, leader of heavens army. “They’ll be left without a root or a branch. [Comparable to Isaiah 40:24] 2 But for those of you who revere My name [that’s us], the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings [I, for one, do not want to wait 1000 years for this healing]. You’ll go out and leap like calves let out of their stall. 3 You’ll trample down the wicked [“during the year of vengeance”]; they’ll be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day [or year] when this is done”, declares Yehovah, leader of heavens army. 4 “Remember the Torah of My servant Moses, the statutes and ordinances that I gave him in Horeb for all Israel. 5 I’ll be sending you Elijah the prophet before the intensely terrifying Day of Yehovah comes! 6 He’ll turn the sentiments of the fathers to the children, and the sentiments of the children to their fathers, otherwise I’ll have to come and strike the earth with utter destruction”. WE
Has the end time Elijah already been here, as some claim? The word “before” used above (06440 paniym, paw-neem) literally means “face”, as of the face of a person, seraphim, cherubim, animal, or the surface of the ground. In essence it means, as defined in the Online Bible Hebrew Lexicon:
“in front of, before, to the front of, in the presence of, in the face of, at the face or front of, from the presence of, from before, from before the face of”.
Elijah will be alive “in the presence of” the Day of Yehovah—contemporary, and concerning the Beast and the False Prophet, to be quite literal, “in their face”.
Even the Day of Yehovah wont strike the earth with total extermination! In fact those who lothe wickedness will be quite blessed!
Isaiah 63:2-4 Why is your clothing red, and your garments like someone who treads in a winepress? 3 “I’ve been treading the winepress alone; no one was there to help Me. In my anger I trampled them, trampling them in My wrath. Their ‘juice’ is sprinkled on My garments, and I’ve stained all My clothing. 4 The day of vengeance was on My mind, and My year of redemption has come. WE
Yeshua the Messiah personally revealed the final account of the Day of Yehovah to the Apostle John. Yeshua’s last inspired words, recorded in Bible, dealt primarily with this sobering period. Some of the desolation of the Day of Yehovah will remain as a perpetual reminder of the event. Edom is one such place.
Isaiah 34:8-10 Because Yehovah has a Day of Vengeance, a year of compensation settling the dispute over Zion. 9 Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, and the ground turned to burning sulfur, and its land will become burning pitch. 10 It wont be quenched night nor day. Its smoke will go up forever. From generation to generation, it will remain deserted. No one will ever travel thru it. WE
