The “New Covenant”—Soon to be Implemented!

Chapter 25, Part 2 Preview (or see Part 1): What is the “New Covenant”? Is the New Covenant already in effect? What are the terms of the Covenant (or contract). Who did God intend to make this Covenant with? The knee jerk response to this question is usually—it’s for the Church*). But try to prove it! Is it possible that God promised this Covenant to another group of people, to begin at a later date? There is a great deal of misinformation concerning what this Covenant really is that has been taught in the churches for centuries. The implementation of the prophesied New Covenant is the very center of Bible prophecy! You have been a victim of “replacement theology”! Read on, and consider the earth shattering truth about the “emancipation proclamation” of the “age to come”.

The Saints, perhaps you, have the “hope” of serving Him in a much higher capacity when God is ruling over Israel. Matthew also spoke of literally ruling in the Kingdom:

Matthew 19:28 Yeshua told them, “I tell you with certainty, that as for you who have followed Me, when the Son of Man sits on His magnificent throne on the Renewed Earth, you will also sit on twelve thrones, presiding over the twelve tribes of Israel. GV

We will serve under the Apostles in the Everlasting Kingdom:

Revelation 1:6-7 ... and has prepared us as kings and a priesthood to Yehovah and His [Yehovahs] Father, to who belongs praise and power, forever and ever. Aw-mane’. 7 Look! He will come with clouds; and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Yes; Aw-mane’. GV

“Service” in the spirit realm will “be with much more glory”. The New Covenant is something that we should have “such a HOPE” for. Serving in the Kingdom of God is the destiny of all of Yeshua’s (presently human) servants:

2 Corinthians 3:4-14 4 This is the kind of trust that have in the Messiah towards Yehovah. 5 Not that we have sufficient ability to think anything of ourselves; but our competency is from Yehovah; 6 who has made us fit to be ministers of the New Covenant, not in the letter, but in the Spirit; because the letter kills, but the spirit produces Life. 7 Now if the ministry of death that was engraved on stones was so brilliant that the descendants of Israel could not look at Moses’ face [Exodus 34:29], because of the brilliance of his face that went away; 8 then wont the ministry of the spirit be even more brilliant? 9 If there is brilliance in the ministry of condemnation, how much more will the ministry of justification exceed it in brilliance? 10 What was adorned in luster , had no luster in this regard, in comparison with this that excels in brightness. 11 If what is being severed away is brilliant, how much more brilliant must the enduring part be? 12 Since we have this hope, we speak with boldness all the more. 13 We are not like Moses, who threw a veil over his face, so that the descendants of Israel couldnt gaze at the remnant of the glow that ended. 14 But they have been blinded in their understanding to this very day, when the ancient covenant [“old covenant”] is read, because their veil has not been lifted; nor is it apparent to them that the veil was severed [Matthew 27:51] by the Messiah. GV

In verse 11 above it says “is being severed away”. This implies that the First Covenant had not yet passed away (yet the Apostles were expecting the New Covenant/Kingdom of God to arrive very soon). The KJV goes as far as to say that it “is done away”. That is because the translators believed that the New Covenant was already in effect. It is true that the Apostles believed for years that they were the generation that would see the Kingdom of God established in their life times. They hoped to help administer the New Covenant to Israel. But they later changed their view about the timing, as is explained in Pentecost is Not Fulfilled!

The Old Covenant Finally Fulfilled

After Israel went into exile, Jeremiah still represented God as saying that the First Covenant needed to be observed by the remnant of Israel (until the New Covenant is enacted).

Jeremiah 11:1-10 The word that came to Jeremiah from [Yehovah], saying, 2 Hear the words of this Covenant, and speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem; 3 and say to them, Thus says [Yehovah], the God of Israel: Cursed is the man who doesn’t hear the words of this Covenant, 4 which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the iron furnace, saying, Obey My voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so you shall be My people, and I will be your God; 5 that I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, [Yehovah]. 6 [Yehovah] said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear the words of this Covenant, and do them. 7 For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey My voice. 8 Yet they didn’t obey, nor turn their ear, but walked everyone in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought on them all the words of this Covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn’t do them. 9 [Yehovah] said to me, a conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear My words; and they are gone after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers. WEB

Daniel, in describing the end of this age, mentioned the Latter Temple’s sacrifices that will be reestablished in the end time. The temple will be functioning for three and a half years prior to when the Beast stops the sacrificing—breaking his covenant. The timing is from Daniel’s Seventy Weeks Prophecy, where a day represents a year:

Daniel 9:27 He will sanction a covenant with many for one ‘seven’. Then in the middle of the ‘seven’ [after three & a half years] he will stop the sacrifices and the offerings. From a wing [of the temple] abominations will come from the one causing the desolations; until the predetermined end time, when wrath will be poured out on the awestruck. —The Word of Elohim (WE)

Matthew, in what is commonly called the Olivet Prophecy, also stressed the significance the Beast’s or the “Abominator’s” presence in the Holy Place when he will personally pollute the Latter Temple and force an end to the daily sacrifices.

Matthew 24:15-22 When you see the sign of the abominable desolation that was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place; then let the reader consider; 16 and then let those who are in Judaea, flee to a mountain{1}; 17 and let him who is on the roof, not come down to take what is in his house; 18 and let him who is in the field, not return to get his cloths. 19 But woe to those with child, and to nursing mothers, in those days. 20 Pray that your flight isn’t during *stormy or rainy weather*[5494], or on the Sabbath. 21 For there will then be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world, until now, nor ever again. 22 Unless those days should be curtailed, no flesh would remain alive. But, for the elect’s sake, those days will be curtailed. —The Testimony of Yeshua, Gabriel Version (GV)

(This will be the new Third Temple. The “Holy Place” is mentioned 56 times in the Tanakh {Hebrew Scriptures} in reference to the Temple.)

Daniel mentioned this event three other times, so that you wouldnt miss it!

Daniel 8:11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host; and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of His sanctuary was cast down. NKJV

The Beast will not throw temple services to the ground when he sets foot in the Holy Place, he will throw the “TRUTH down to the Ground”.

Daniel 8:12-13 Because of transgression, an army was given over to the ‘horn’ [False Prophet] to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he cast TRUTH down to the ground. He did all this and prospered 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, ‘How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot? NKJV

We have not seen the last of God’s First “Holy Covenant”. Dont assume that the Romans put an end to it. As soon as the Third Temple is constructed the “Holy Covenant” will kick in again—complete with “the continual burnt offering”!

Daniel 11:28-35 Then shall he [the Beast] return into his land with [a great army]; and his heart shall be against the Holy Covenant; and he shall do his pleasure, and return to his own land. 29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come into the south; but it shall not be in the latter time as it was in the former. 30 For ships of Kittim shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and shall return, and have indignation against the Holy Covenant, and shall do his pleasure: he shall even return, and have regard to those who forsake the Holy Covenant. 31 Forces shall stand on his part, and they shall [defile] THE SANCTUARY, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual burnt offering, and they shall set up the abomination that makes desolate. 32 Such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he pervert by flatteries; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. 33 Those who are wise among the people shall instruct many; yet they shall fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by spoil, many days. 34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be helped with a little help; but many shall join themselves to them [due to promises of plunder]. 35 Some of those who are wise shall fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed. WEB

The First Covenant is valid until the time when “things are completely straightened out!

Hebrews 9:6-10 As long as these things were all still in place, the priests continually entered the outer tabernacle to perform their services. 7 The high priest enters into the inner part of the tabernacle only once a year—never with the blood that he offers for himself and for the sins of the people. 8 The sacred spirit was indicating, that the way into the most sacred place was symbolically hidden, as long as long as the first tabernacle was standing. 9 This is a figurative representation for the present time, when both offerings and sacrifices are offered that are unable to perfect the conscience of those who are offering them. 10 These things only relate to food and drink and various washings, that are mortal ordinances, set up until the time when things are completely straightened out. GV

The New and Everlasting Covenant

Ezekiel also spoke about the New Covenant, and tho he did not use the word “New” as Jeremiah did, it is nonetheless the same covenant. What other covenant could this possibly refer to? In fact the term “Everlasting” is a better description of what God has in mind. God contrasted the coming “Everlasting Covenant” with the covenant that Israel broke “in the days of your youth”.

Ezekiel 16:59-63 For thus says the Lord [Yehovah]: I will also deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the [First] covenant. 60 Nevertheless I will remember My Covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an Everlasting Covenant. 61 Then you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you shall receive your sisters, your elder sisters and your younger; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant. 62 I will establish My Covenant with you; and you shall know that I am [Yehovah]; 63 that you may remember, and be [ashamed, 0954], and never open your mouth any more, because of your shame, when I have forgiven you all that you have done, says the Lord [Yehovah]. WEB

The Everlasting Covenant was begun with Abraham, and was never meant to be anything but everlasting. When the New Covenant is in force, it will become exactly what it was originally meant to be.

Ezekiel 20:33-38 As I live, says the Lord [Yehovah], surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, will I be King over you: 34 and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out; 35 and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face. 36 Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, says the Lord [Yehovah]. 37 I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the Covenant; 38 and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who disobey against Me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am [Yehovah]. WEB

Ezekiel 37:24-28 My servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in My ordinances, and observe My statutes, and do them. 25 They shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived; and they shall dwell therein, they, and their children, and their children’s children, forever: and David My servant shall be their prince for ever. 26 Moreover I will make a Covenant of peace with them; it shall be an Everlasting Covenant with them; and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set My Sanctuary [New Jerusalem] in the midst of them forevermore. 27 My [Tabernacle] also shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 28 The nations shall know that I am [Yehovah] who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary shall be in the midst of them forevermore. WEB

In fact the Great Tribulation will devastate the land because we have been trampling God’s Laws, and are still breaking the “Everlasting Covenant”!

Isaiah 24:3-6 The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for [Yehovah] has spoken this word. 4 The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades away. The lofty people of the earth languish. 5 The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the EVERLASTING COVENANT. 6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell therein are found guilty. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. WEB

Ezekiel chapters 40-48 is actually all about the time of the New Covenant. None of the prophecies in these nine chapters have ever even remotely been fulfilled.

Ezekiel 43:5-11 The Spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of [Yehovah] filled the house. 6 I heard one speaking to me out of the house; and a man stood by me. 7 He said to me, Son of man, this is the place of My throne, and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever. The house of Israel shall no more defile My holy name, neither they, nor their kings, by their prostitution, and by the dead bodies of their kings in their high places; 8 in their setting of their threshold by My threshold, and their doorpost beside My doorpost, and there was but the wall between me and them; and they have defiled My holy name by their abominations which they have committed: therefore I have consumed them in My anger. 9 Now let them put away their prostitution, and the dead bodies of their kings, far from Me; and I will dwell in the midst of them forever. 10 You, son of man, show the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern. 11 If they be ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the form of the house, and its fashion, and its exits, and its entrances, and all its forms, and all its ordinances, and all its forms, and all its laws; and write it in their sight; that they may keep the whole form of it, and all its ordinances, and do them. WEB

This nine chapter prophecy ends with the river of life cleansing the earth, and trees of life bearing fruit each month.

Ezekiel 47:12 By the river on its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow every tree for food, whose leaf shall not wither, neither shall its fruit fail: it shall bring forth new fruit every month, because its waters issue out of the sanctuary; and its fruit shall be for food, and its leaf for healing. WEB

This is when the twelve tribes of Israel again take back their land—now truly “Sacred (holy) Land” again, because Yehovah is there! (all of Ezekiel 48).

Zechariah 2:10-13 Sing and rejoice, daughter of Zion; for, behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you,’ says [Yehovah]. 11 Many nations shall join themselves to [Yehovah] in that day, and shall be My people; and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that [Yehovah] of Armies has sent Me to you. 12 [Yehovah] will inherit Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before [Yehovah]; for He has roused Himself from His holy habitation!”

If you read these nine chapters you cannot help but ask why there is all of the emphasis on sacrifices. Indeed why is there any mention of sacrifices in the Everlasting Kingdom? Did Yeshua (Jesus*) actually end the Levitical sacrificial system? Here is an entire website concerned with the issues of the Law, and what happened to it after Yeshua was crucified: Paul, the Temple & New Covenant Sacrifices. While the web host most likely has a traditional view of the New Covenant, he sees a big problem with what is taught about the Levitical Priesthood “having been abolished”. This too has been misrepresented by the Churches. Better still, find a copy of The Coming Last Days Temple. It is out of print, but new and used copies are still available on Amazon.com and other web sources.

Mediation by Crucifixion!

Is Yeshua presently acting as a mediator for the Saints? I was taught that “Jesus has to mediate for the Saints daily to the Father”, that is, He has to continually remind the Father not to squash the mere humans, since, after all, only He could relate to what it is like being human. However, once we know what the New Covenant is, we should further understand that Yeshua completed the active mediation when He died! Three of the six references to “mediator” in the Testimony of Yeshua, mistakenly called the “New Testament”, concern the time of the future New Covenant. Hebrews 9:15 says that the mediation was performed “by means of death”. So the role of mediator was performed by a physical Yeshua, not the resurrected One. When the New Covenant is actually fulfilled by Yehovah and His Messiah (the Lord and His Christ), no additional mediation will have been needed. The New Covenant was ratified with the blood of Yeshua and now awaits the end of this present evil age.

Notice the statement that Yeshua, the human Man (Greek: anthropos), was the mediator.

1 Timothy 2:5 Yehovah is one; and there is one Mediator between Yehovah and humanity—Yeshua the Messiah, a Man Himself... GV

Yeshua “has [now] obtained a more excellent ministry”. The first definition used for “ministry” in the Online Bible Greek Lexicon is: “a public office which a citizen undertakes to administer at his own expense”. There could be no higher expense!

Hebrews 8:6 But now, Yeshua the Messiah has attained a more excellent public service, since He is the Mediator of a more excellent covenant, one that was legislated with better promises than the former. GV

Hebrews 9:15 This is why He became the Mediator of the New Covenant—so that BY MEANS OF HIS DEATH, He could become the ransom for those who had transgressed the first covenant, so that those who are called to the eternal inheritance, could receive the promise. GV

Here again, the Mediation was accomplished by of Yeshua’s sacrifice.

Hebrews 12:24 ... and to Yeshua, the Mediator of the New Covenant; and to the sprinkling of His blood that reveals more advantages than that of Abel. GV

To say that Yeshua must keep on mediating is tantamount to saying that He must keep on dying—a shameful concept!

Hebrews 6:4-6 But those who have already descended into immersion [baptism], and have tasted the gift from Heaven, and have received the sacred spirit, 5 and have savored the wonderful Words of Yehovah, and the powers of the age to come, 6 cant fall away, and then be renewed a second time to a changed mind. This is like PERSONALLY crucifying Aloha’s Son all over again, and exposing Him to public disgrace. GV

So here is the New Covenant in a nutshell:

Isaiah 59:20-21 The Redeemer [Yeshua] will come [return] to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob, says the LORD. 21 “As for Me,” says the LORD, “this is My Covenant with them: My Spirit [which] is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the LORD, “from this time and forevermore.” NKJV

Paul also prophesied about the coming New Covenant and people are still “ignorant of this mystery”:

Romans 11:25-27 Friends, so that you wont be presumptuous, I want you to know of this hidden mystery—that mental blindness has happened to Israel, in some measure, until the Time of the heathens has occurred; 26 and then, all Israel will be Rescued. As the Scriptures declare, “A deliverer will come from Zion, and will remove the lack of reverence of Jacob. 27 Then they will have My Covenant, when I have forgiven their sins”. GV

I also recommend reading WHAT DO YOU MEAN... A NEW COVENANT? It is a rather technical article that demonstrates from the Hebrew and the Greek what “New” really means! Interestingly, Frank believes that the New Covenant is already in effect.
