Introduction

1st Peter 1: Peter, a herald* of Yeshua the Messiah, to the Select [1588] and pilgrims, who are dispersed* in Pontus and in Galatia, and in Cappadocia, and in Asia, and in Bithynia, 2 to those who have been selected, by the foreknowledge of Yehovah’ the Father, *made holy* by the Spirit, to the obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Yeshua the Messiah. May *merciful kindness* and peace increase. 3 Yehovah is blessed, the Father of our Master Yeshua the Messiah, who in His great mercy has engendered* us again [313], to the expectation of real* life [2198], by the resurrection of our Master Yeshua the Messiah, 4 to an incorruptible inheritance, undefiled, and unfading that is prepared in heaven for you; 5 while you are *under guard* [5432], by the power of Yehovah and by faith, for the salvation* that is prepared and will be unveiled* in the last days. 6 Then you will rejoice forever, tho at the present time you are a little sorrowful, by the various trials that come your way; 7 so that the proof of your faith that is much more precious than refined gold that is purified by fire, for glory and honor and praise, at the appearance of Yeshua the Messiah. 8 You have not seen Him, yet you love Him; and in His faith you rejoice with joy that is glorious and unspeakable, 9 so that you can receive the compensation for your faith, the salvation* of everlasting life* [5590]; 10 the very salvation* that the prophets inquired about, when they were prophesying about the *merciful kindness* that was to be given to you. 11 They searched to know the exact time that the Spirit of the Messiah, dwelling in them, was revealing, and when the sufferings of the Messiah were predicted to occur, and His honor that followed. 12 And everything that they were searching was revealed to them, because they were not inquiring for themselves, but they were prophesying those things for us, things that are now revealed to you by those who have brought you the *Good News* [2], by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven; things the holy Messengers also desire to look into. 13 So prepare* your minds and be wide awake, and *wait with confidence* [1679] for the joy that will come to you at the revelation of our Master Yeshua the Messiah. 14 Be as obedient children, not conforming to the former lusts that you lusted for in ignorance. 15 But be holy in all your conduct, as He who has called you is holy. 16 Because it is written, “Be holy, just as I am holy”. 17 If you call on the Father, who impartially judges everyone according to their behavior* [2041], live your lives in reverent fear as *travelers in a foreign land* [3940]. 18 You know that your ransom from the useless traditions handed down from your ancestors; was not paid with perishable silver, nor with gold, 19 but with the precious blood of that Lamb, without spots or blemishes, namely, the Messiah; 20 who was certainly predestined for this, before the foundation of the world; and this *former mystery has been made apparent* [5318] at the end of the age, for you. 21 Thru Him you have believed in Yehovah, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him honor; so that your faith and hope could be in Yehovah. 22 Your minds should be purified by obedience to the truth; and filled with love, so that you can love each other from a pure and perfect mind; 23 being begotten again, not of seed that perishes, but of imperishable, by the living Word of Yehovah, who lives and endures forever. 24 Because *mortal mankind* is like grass, and all our splendor is like the flowers of the field. The leaves dry up, and the flowers fade away; 25 but the word of Yehovah abides forever. This is the *Good News* message that is announced to you.

1st Peter 2: So refrain from all malignant* [2549] thoughts, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and harmful words. 2 Be like newborn babies; and crave the pure spiritual milk of the word, so that that you can grow; 3 if you have tasted and discovered that the Master is good. 4 The One you are coming to is a living stone, quite rejected by humanity [444], but with Yehovah, selected and precious. 5 You are also, like living stones, a rebuilt* [1] spiritual temple, with holy priests who offer spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Yehovah, thru Yeshua the Messiah. 6 For the Scriptures say, “Look, in Zion I lay a chosen and precious stone, for the cornerstone; and whoever believes in Him wont be ashamed”. 7 He is honored by those of you who believe; but for those who dont believe, 8 He is a stumbling stone and a rock of offence. They are *induced to sin* [4350], because they *refused to believe and obey* [544] the truth*; they have *set themselves apart* [5087]. 9 But you are a select race, officiating as priests of the Kingdom; a holy people, a congregation that proclaims the virtues of the One who called you out of darkness, into His precious light. 10 Previously, you were not considered a people, but now you are the people of Yehovah. Also, previously you had not experienced mercy, but now mercies are poured out on you. 11 Beloved, I admonish you as strangers and pilgrims to separate yourselves from all lusts of the body; for they war against you. 12 Your behavior should be commendable* before everyone; so that those who slander you, can see your good behavior, and can praise Yehovah in the day of the return [2] [1984, episkope]. 13 Be submissive to human authority, for Yehovah’s sake; to kings, because of their authority; 14 and to judges, because he sent them to punishment offenders, and for the praise of those who do well. 15 For this is Yehovah’s will, so that by your good behavior you will muzzle* [5392] the mouths of the foolish, who dont know Yehovah. 16 Be like free people, but not like those who make their freedom a pretext* for their wickedness, but as the servants of Yehovah. 17 Honor everyone; love your brethren; fear Yehovah; and honor kings. 18 Those among you who are servants, be subject to your masters, with reverence; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh and crooked* [4646]. 19 For it pleases Yehovah when those who, for the sake of a good conscience, endure sorrow and suffer unjustly. 20 But what praise would they deserve if they endured afflictions because of their own offences? But if you do well, and patiently endure suffering, then this delights Yehovah. 21 It is for this reason that you were called; because the Messiah also suffered for us, and left us this example, that you should follow in His steps. 22 He did not sin; nor was deceit found in His mouth. 23 When He was reviled, He didnt revile in return; and He suffered without threats, but committed His cause to the Judge of righteousness. 24 He took away all of our sins, and, He lifted them in His body, to the cross; so that we, when dead to sin, can live by His righteousness; for by His bleeding wounds you are healed. 25 For you, once went astray, like sheep; but you have now returned to the Shepherd and Guardian [1985, “bishop” or “episkopos”] of your being.

[1] The fact that, spiritually, we are “The Israel of God” (Galatians 6:16), rebuilt right now, does not diminish the fact that all of physical Israel will be rebuilt, as Yeshua prophesied in Matthew 16:18!

[2] This word that could be rendered as “advent” is used four times in the Scriptures. Once for Yeshua’s first public arrival—Luke 19:44; once concerning His second public arrival (“visitation”)—1 Peter 2:12; and twice the word has been been used to create “the office of a bishop”—Acts 1:20 and 1 Timothy 3:1.

1st Peter 3: So also you wives, obey* [5293] your husbands; so that, by your pleasing behavior, you may gain over, without difficulty, those who dont obey the word, 2 when they see that you conduct yourselves with reverence and modesty. 3 Dont adorn yourselves with the external ornaments such as *elaborately braided* hair, or of golden trinkets, or precious clothing. 4 But clothe yourselves with an inwardly humane* [444] mind, with a mild and tranquil spirit, an ornament that is precious to Yehovah. 5 For this is how the holy women of old, who trusted in Yehovah, adorned themselves, and obeyed* their husbands. 6 Just as Sarah was obedient [5219] to Abraham, and called him the leader*; and you are her daughters, by good works, but you arent terrified by any terror. 7 Likewise husbands, live with your wives with *advanced knowledge* [1108], and value* [5092] them as weaker vessels; because they will also inherit the gift of eternal life with you. Do this so that your prayers wont be hindered. 8 In summary, you should all be in harmony, so that you are sympathetic with those who suffer, being affectionate with each other, merciful and kind. 9 Dont repay evil with evil, nor exchange abusive criticisms; but instead of these, you should bless. For were you called for this reason, so that you can inherit a blessing. 10 So, whoever chooses eternal life, and desires to see better days, should prevent their language from causing injury, and their speech, so that they arent deceitful. 11 They should turn away from evil, and do good; they should seek peace, and *chase it down* [1377]. 12 Because the Master watches over the righteous, and He is always ready to listen to them. But the Master frowns against the wicked. 13 Who will harm you, if you are zealous of good works? 14 But if you suffer because of righteousness, be glad. Dont be terrified by those who would terrify you, nor be distressed. 15 Make our Master the Messiah, holy in your minds. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you for an explanation* about the expectation* [1680] of your faith, with gentleness* [4240] and respect. 16 Do this having a good conscience; so that those who speak against you as being evil, will be ashamed, for having falsely accused your good conduct in the Messiah. 17 For it is far better for you to suffer evil, while doing good deeds, (if this is the will of Yehovah); than to suffer for your evil deeds. 18 For the Messiah also once died for our sins, a righteous man for sinners; so that He could bring you to Yehovah. He died physically, but *was restored to life* [2227] spiritually. 19 He heralded to the spirits who were imprisoned in Sheol, 20 who previously *had not complied*. And once, in the days of Noah, when Yehovah was *slow in avenging wrongs* [3115] commanded an ark to be made, hoping that they would amend their ways; but only eight souls entered it, and survived *the water of the deluge*. 21 Similarly, you are also saved from submersion [908, baptisma], (not when you wash your bodies from filth, but when you confess Yehovah with a pure conscience,) and by the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah; 22 who was taken up to heaven, and is on the right hand of Yehovah, and holy Messengers, and authorities, and powers, are subject to Him.

1st Peter 4: So if the Messiah has suffered for you in His physical body, you should also arm yourselves with the same understanding; because everyone who suffers physically, restrains* [3973] their sinning, 2 so that they no longer live for the lusts of humanity, while they are in the body, but to do the will of Yehovah. 3 For in your past lives, you spent enough time pursuing heathen desires, living in unbridled lust, drunkenness, carousing around in heathen feasts, in the worship of false gods. 4 Now they are *astonished by your strangeness*, and blaspheme you, because you dont run* [4936] with them in riotous living, as in the past! 5 They will be compensated* [591] by Yehovah, who will judge both the living and the deceased. 6 For this reason the *Good News* was also proclaimed to those who are now dead, so that they can be judged as those still in their physical bodies, and live according to Yehovah in the Spirit. 7 But the end of everything approaches; so be sound minded, and watch prayerfully. 8 Above all things, have intense* [1618, ektenes] love toward each another; for love covers a great number of *violations of Yehovah’s Law* [256]. 9 Be compassionate to strangers, without murmuring. 10 You should all minister to each other the gifts that you have received from Yehovah; as being good stewards of the many varied *spiritual benefits* 5485] of Yehovah. 11 Whoever speaks should speak the word of Yehovah; and whoever serves [1247], should serve with the ability that Yehovah has given them; so that in all you do, Yehovah will be glorified, thru Yeshua the Messiah. Glory and honor belongs to Them forever and ever. Amen. 12 My beloved, dont be surprised by the trials that happen to you, as if some strange thing had happened to you; for these things are meant to test and refine you. 13 But rejoice as you participate in the sufferings of the Messiah, that so you can also rejoice greatly when His splendor is revealed. 14 If you are harshly criticized because of the name of the Messiah, you should be glad; because the glorious Spirit of Yehovah rests on you. 15 But none of you should suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer. 16 But if someone suffers as a Christian [1], they should not be ashamed; but they should glorify Yehovah because of this very name. 17 For the time of judgment will come and will begin with the house of Yehovah [2]; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who dont obey the *Good News* of Yehovah? 18 If the righteous barely survives, how will the spiritually destitute and the sinner endure the scrutiny* [5316]? 19 Those who suffer according to the will of Yehovah should dedicate themselves to Him, in *virtuous behavior* [16], as is due our faithful Creator.

1st Peter 5: I admonish the elders who are among you as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Messiah, and a partner in His majesty* that will be revealed: 2 Feed you the flock of Yehovah that is among* [1722] you; take care for it spiritually; not being forced to, but voluntarily; not because of greed for money, but willingly* [4290]; 3 not bringing the flock *under your authority* [2634], but by being a good examples for them. 4 And when the original* Shepherd is revealed, you will receive from Him a crown of praise that never fades. 5 You young people, submit yourselves to your seniors; and clothe yourselves with humility, cooperating with each other; because Yehovah resists the arrogant, but gives *merciful kindness* to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves under the powerful hand of Yehovah, and He will exalt you in due time. 7 Place all your anxieties on Yehovah; for He cares for you. 8 Be calm and vigilant, because Satan your adversary, is like a roaring lion, walking around, looking for someone to devour. 9 So resist him, being steadfast in the faith; knowing that the same suffering happens to your brothers who are in the world. 10 But the God of *merciful kindness*, who has called us to His eternal magnificence* by Yeshua the Messiah, who Yehovah has given to us, will strengthen us to sustain these light afflictions, and confirm us, and establish us in Him forever. 11 Praise, dominion, and honor, belongs to Him forever and ever. Amen. 12 By Sylvanus, our faithful brother, I have written to you these few things [1]. As a means of persuasion, I would testify that this is the true *merciful kindness* of Yehovah, that establishes you in your place. 13 The Select Assembly in Babylon, greets you; as does Mark, my son. 14 Greet each other with a holy kiss. Peace to all of you who are in the Messiah. Amen.

Introduction

2nd Peter 1: Simon Peter, a servant and emissary of Yeshua the Messiah, to those who have obtained equally precious faith with us, thru the righteousness of Our Master and Redeemer, Yeshua the Messiah; 2 May *Merciful kindness* and peace increase in you by acknowledging our Master Yeshua the Messiah, 3 as the One who gives us everything that pertains to the power of Yehovah, to life and holiness, by acknowledging the One who has called us to His own splendor and moral excellence. 4 Because of this He has given you very great and precious promises; so that by them you can become *partners sharing* [2844] the divine* nature of Yehovah, after* we escape the corruption of the lusts of the world. 5 While you strive* [4710] for this, add to your faith moral excellence; and to moral excellence, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, perseverance; and to perseverance, patience; and to patience, the fear of Yehovah; 7 and to the fear of Yehovah, sympathy with the brotherhood; and to sympathy with the brotherhood, love. 8 For if you have these things, and are abounding, you will not be lazy or unfruitful, in acknowledging our Master Yeshua the Messiah. 9 For anyone who lacks these things is blind or nearsighted* [3467, muopazo], and has forgotten the cleansing of their* [846, autos] former sins. 10 So, Brethren, be very diligent to make your calling and selection sure, by your good actions. By doing this, you’ll never fall backwards. 11 So an entrance, *abounding in resources* [4146], will be provided for you, into the Everlasting Kingdom of our Master and Savior Yeshua the Messiah. 12 For this reason I will not neglect to remind you continually of these things; altho you know them well, and are established in this truth. 13 I consider it to be righteous, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by reminding you; 14 since I know that I will soon depart from this body, as my Master Yeshua the Messiah has shown me. 15 I will be careful to ensure, that after my departure, you will always have a written reminder of these things. 16 For we have not followed artfully framed fables, in making the power and arrival of our Master Yeshua the Messiah known to you; but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from Yehovah the Father honor and praise. A voice came to Him from the Excellent Majesty that said: “This is My beloved Son, who I am well pleased with”. 18 We also heard this identical voice from heaven that came to Him, while we were with Him on the holy mount. 19 We also have the certain teaching of prophecy; and you’ll do well, if you look to it as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the sun arises in your minds; 20 Know this first, that no prophecy *will happen* [1096] due to your own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never came by the will of mankind*; but holy men of Yehovah spoke, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

2nd Peter 2: As false prophets [5528] *arose in history*, there will also be false teachers [5572] among you, who will by *stealthiness introduce* [3919] destructive sects* [1] [139], denying the Master who bought them; and bring on themselves swift and *eternal death* [684]. 2 Many will *comply with* [1811] their *deadly ways; because these deceivers blasphemed* [987, blasphemeo] the Way of truth. 3 In their greed [4124] and with *well formed* [4112, plastos] arguments*, they will *buy and sell* [1710] you. Yet their sentencing [2917], *determined in distant past*, will not be delayed*; nor will their *utter destruction* [684] be delayed. 4 For, if Yehovah didnt spare His Angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartaroo* [2] in chains of darkness, and *restrained them in custody* [3860] to be guarded until Judgment Day, 5 and didnt spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, a herald of righteousness, and his family of eight, when He brought a flood on the world of the wicked; 6 and burned up the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and condemned them with an upheaval, making them an example for those who would consider living ungodly lives later. 7 He also delivered righteous Lot, who was tormented by the filthy conduct of the Lawless; 8 for that upright man living among them, was distressed in his righteous soul every day, in seeing and hearing about their Lawless deeds; 9 the Master knows how to rescue from afflictions those who fear him; and He will reserve the wicked for Judgment Day to be tormented, 10 and especially those who go after the mortal* [4561] lusts of defilement, and despise government. Daring and arrogant, they dont shudder with awe while they blaspheme the honorable*; 11 whereas holy Messengers, greater than they in might and valor, dont bring blasphemous condemnations against them. 12 But these, instinctively illogical* [249, alogos] animals, that are born to be captured and destroyed, while blaspheming the things they dont understand, will be destroyed in their own moral decay; 13 they are people who will be compensated* for their injustice, because their idea of fun is carousing during the daytime; they are spots and blemishes, reveling in self deception, yet feasting with you; 14 having eyes that are full of adultery, and never ending sins; enticing unstable minds; their own minds trained in greed; they are cursed offspring: 15 and, having left the way of rectitude, they have wandered and gone in the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of iniquity, 16 and who was reproved for his transgression a dumb donkey, which, speaking with the speech of men, reprimanded the madness of the prophet. 17 These are wells without water, clouds driven by a tempest, persons for who is reserved the blackness of darkness. 18 For, while they utter astonishing vanity, they seduce, with obscene lusts of the flesh, them who have almost abandoned these that walk in error. 19 They promise them liberty, while they themselves are the slaves of corruption: for, by whatever thing a man is vanquished, to that is he enslaved. 20 For if, when they have escaped the pollution of the world by the knowledge of our Master and Redeemer Yeshua the Messiah, they become again involved in the same, and are vanquished, their latter state is worse than the former. 21 For it would have been better for them, not to have known the way of righteousness, than after having known it, to turn back from the holy Commandment that was delivered to them. 22 But the true proverb has happened to them: the dog returns to his vomit and the sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.

[1] Sect and heresy are the same word in Greek.

[2] Tartaroo [5020] is used once in the Scriptures. It is a place where the wickedest angels are restrained from humanity.

2nd Peter 3: This second letter, my beloved, I now write to you; in both of which I stir up your honest mind by admonition: 2 so that you can be mindful of the words which were formerly spoken by the holy prophets and of the injunction of our Master and Redeemer by the hand of the emissaries*: 3 knowing this previously, that there will come in the last days scoffers, who will scoff, walking according to their own lusts; 4 and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? For, since our fathers fell asleep, every thing remains just as from the beginning of the creation. 5 For this they willingly forget, that the heavens were of old; and the earth rose up from the waters, and by means of water, by the word of Yehovah. 6 By means of these waters, the world which then was, being submerged again perished in the waters. 7 And the heavens that now are, and the earth, are by his word stored up, being reserved for the fire at the day of judgment and the perdition of wicked men. 8 Of this one thing, my beloved, dont be forgetful, That one day, to the Lord, is as a thousand years; and a thousand years, as one day. 9 The Master doesnt procrastinate his promises, as some estimate procrastination; but he is long suffering, for your sakes, being not willing that any should perish, but that every one should come to repentance. 10 On the day the Master will comes, like a thief; in which the heavens will suddenly pass away; and the elements, being ignited, will be dissolved; and the earth and the works in it, wont be found. 11 As so all these things are to be dissolved, what persons ought you to be, in holy conduct, and in the fear of Yehovah, 12 expecting and desiring the coming of the day of Yehovah, in which the heavens being tried by fire will be dissolved, and the elements being ignited will melt? 13 But we, according to his promise, expect new heavens, and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 14 So, my beloved, as you expect these things, strive that you may be found by him in peace, without spot and without blemish. 15 Consider the long suffering of the Master to be redemption; as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom conferred on him, wrote to you; 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which there is something difficult to be understood; and which they who is ignorant and unstable, pervert, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You so, my beloved, as you know these things beforehand, guard yourselves, for fear that, by going after the error of the lawless, you fall from your steadfastness. 18 But you be growing in *merciful kindness*, and in the knowledge of our Master and Redeemer Yeshua the Messiah, and of Yehovah the Father: whose is the glory, now, and always, and to the days of eternity. Amen.
