The Testimony of Yeshua

1st & 2nd PETER (Gabriel Version)

Index
Introduction

1st Peter 1: From Peter, an envoy of Yeshua the Messiah, to the Select pilgrims who are dispersed in Pontus and Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 to those who have been selected by the prescience [Gr. prognosis] of Yehovah the Father, and dedicated by the spirit, for obedience to Yeshua the Messiah and being sprinkled by His blood. May compassion and peace increase.
3 Yehovah is blessed, the Father of our Master Yeshua the Messiah, who in His great mercy has engendered us again to the expectation of real Life, by the resurrection of our Master Yeshua the Messiah, 4 to an incorruptible inheritance, undefiled and unfading that is prepared in Heaven for you, 5 while you are under guard, by the power of Yehovah and by faith, for the eternal Life that is prepared and will be unveiled in the last days. 6 Then you’ll rejoice forever, tho at the present time you are a little sorrowful by the various trials that come your way 7 to prove your faith, that is much more precious than gold, refined and purified by fire, for eminence, honor and splendor, when Yeshua the Messiah appears. 8 You havent seen Him, yet you love Him, and in His faith you rejoice with overwhelmingly unspeakable joy, 9 so that you can receive the compensation [1] for your faith—everlasting life,
10 the very eternal Life that the prophets inquired about, when they were prophesying about the compassion that was to be given to you. 11 They tried to determine the exact time that the spirit of the Messiah, dwelling in them, was referring to, and when His predicted suffering was to occur, and the splendor that followed. 12 And everything that they were searching for was revealed to them, because they were not inquiring for themselves, but they were prophesying those things for us, things that are now revealed to you by those who have announced the Good News, by the dedicated spirit sent from Heaven, things the spirit Messengers also long to look into.
13 So be mentally prepared and wide awake, and wait with confidence for the joy that will come to you at the revelation of our Master Yeshua the Messiah. 14 Be as obedient children, not conforming to the former lusts that you lusted for in ignorance. 15 Be pure in all your conduct, because the One who called you by name is pure. 16 Because it is written, “Become pure, just as I am pure”.
17 If you call on the Father, who impartially judges everyone according to their behavior, live your lives in reverent fear as travelers in a foreign land. 18 You know that your ransom from the useless traditions, handed down from your ancestors was not paid with perishable silver, or with gold, 19 but with the precious blood of that Lamb, without spots or blemishes, namely, the Messiah, 20 who was certainly predestined for this before the foundation of the world, and this former mystery has been made apparent for you at the end of the age. 21 Thru Him you have believed in Yehovah, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him honor, so that your faith and hope could be in Yehovah.
22 Your minds should be purified by obedience to the truth and filled with love, so that you can love each other from a pure and perfect mind, 23 being regenerated [born anew], not from a destructible heredity, but from indestructible, by the living Word of Aloha who lives forever. 24 Because mortal humanity is like grass, and all our splendor is like the flowers of the field. The leaves dry up, and the flowers fade away, 25 but the Word of Aloha remains forever. This is the Good News message that is announced to you.

[1] The Greek says essentially “end result” rather than “compensation”.

1st Peter 2: So refrain from every malignant thought and every deceitfulness, hypocrisy, envy, and harmful words. 2 Be like newborn babies and crave the dedicated spiritual milk of the Word, so that you can grow, 3 if you have tasted and discovered that Yehovah is good.
4 The One you are coming to is a living Stone, quite rejected by humanity, but with Yehovah, selected and precious. 5 You are also like living stones in the temple, a rebuilt [1] spiritual Temple, with pure priests who offer spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Yehovah, thru Yeshua the Messiah. 6 The Scriptures say, “Look, in Zion I lay a chosen and precious Stone for the cornerstone, and whoever believes in Him wont be ashamed”. 7 He is honored by those of you who believe, but for those who dont believe, 8 He is a stumbling stone and a rock of offense. They are induced to sin because they refused to believe and obey the truth, they’ve set themselves apart.
9 But you are a select race, officiating as priests of the Kingdom, a pure nation [2], an assembly that proclaims the virtues of the One who called you by name, out of darkness and into His precious light. 10 Once you werent considered a people, but now you are the people of Yehovah. Also, you hadnt experienced mercy, but now mercies are poured out on you.
11 Beloved, I admonish you as strangers and pilgrims to separate yourselves from all lusts of the body because they war against your inner selves [psuche (psyche)]. 12 Your behavior should be obviously commendable to everyone, so that those who slander you can see your good behavior and praise Yehovah in the day of the Return [episkope, ep-is-kop-ay’] [3].
13 Be submissive to human authority for Yehovah’s sake, to kings because of their authority, 14 and to judges because He sent them to punish offenders and to commend those who do well. 15 This is Yehovah’s will, so that by your good behavior you’ll muzzle the mouths of the foolish who dont know Yehovah. 16 Be like free people, but not like those who make their freedom a pretext for their wickedness, but as the servants of Yehovah. 17 Honor everyone, love your Friends, fear Yehovah, and honor kings.
18 Those of you who are servants, be subject to your masters with reverence, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh and crooked. 19 It pleases Yehovah when those who, for the sake of a good conscience, endure sorrow and suffer unjustly. 20 But what acclaim would they deserve if they endure punishment because of their offenses? But if you do well, and patiently endure suffering, Yehovah is greatly pleased. 21 This is why you were called, because the Messiah also suffered for us and left us an example, so that you could follow in His steps. 22 He didnt sin, nor did He ever speak deceitfully. 23 When He was reviled, He didnt revile in return, and He suffered without threats, but committed His cause to the Judge of righteousness. 24 He took away all of our sins, and He lifted them in His body to the cross, so that we, when dead to sin, can live by His righteousness, because you are healed by His bleeding wounds. 25 You once went astray like sheep, but you have now returned to the Shepherd and Guardian [“bishop” or “episkopos”] of your being.

[1] The fact that, spiritually, we are “the Israel of Yehovah” (Galatians 6:16), rebuilt right now, does not diminish from the fact that all of physical Israel will be rebuilt, as Yeshua prophesied in Matthew 16:18! [2] This is one place where translators dont mess up and use the word “gentile”. [3] The word that could be rendered as “advent” is used four times in the Bible. Once for Yeshua’s first public arrival—Luke 19:44, once concerning His second public arrival (“visitation”)—1 Peter 2:12, and twice the word has been used to create “the office of a bishop”—Acts 1:20 and 1 Timothy 3:1.

1st Peter 3: So also you wives, be subject to your husbands so that by your pleasing behavior, you may win over those who have not obeyed the word, without difficulty, 2 when they see that you conduct yourselves with reverence and modesty. 3 Dont adorn yourselves with external ornaments, such as elaborately braided hair, or of golden trinkets, or precious clothing. 4 But clothe yourselves with an inwardly humane mind, with a mild and tranquil spirit, an ornament that is precious to Yehovah. 5 This is how the pure women of old who trusted in Yehovah adorned themselves, and were subject to their husbands. 6 Just as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, and called him master, and you are her daughters, by good works, without allowing anything to terrify you.
7 Likewise husbands, live with your wives with advanced knowledge, and value them as weaker vessels, because they’ll also inherit the gift of eternal Life with you. Do this so that your prayers wont be hindered.
8 In summary, you should all be in harmony, so that you are sympathetic with those who suffer, being affectionate with each other, merciful and kind. 9 Dont repay evil with evil, or exchange abusive criticisms, but instead, you should bless. You were called by name for this reason, so that you can inherit a blessing. 10 So whoever chooses eternal Life, and desires to see better days, should prevent their language from causing injury, and their speech, so that they arent deceitful. 11 They should turn away from evil and do good, they should seek peace and chase it down. 12 Because Yehovah watches over the righteous, and He is always ready to listen to them. But Yehovah is against the wicked.
13 Who will harm you if you are zealous of good works? 14 But if you suffer because of righteousness, be glad. Dont be terrified or be distressed by those who would terrify you. 15 Make our Master the Messiah pure in your minds. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you for an explanation about the expectation of your faith, with gentleness and respect. 16 Do this having a good conscience, so that those who speak against you as being evil will be ashamed for having falsely accused your good conduct in the Messiah. 17 It is far better for you to suffer evil, while doing good deeds, (if this is the will of Yehovah), than to suffer for your evil deeds. 18 The Messiah also once died for our sins, a righteous man for sinners, so that He could bring you to Yehovah. He died physically, but was restored to Life spiritually. 19 He heralded to the spirits who were imprisoned in Sheol, 20 who previously hadnt complied. And once in the days of Noah, Yehovah in extreme patience, commanded an ark to be made, hoping that they would amend their ways, but only eight souls entered it, and survived the water of the deluge. 21 Similarly, the water of immersion [baptism] now Rescues you, (not when you wash dirt from your bodies, but when you answer to Yehovah with a pure conscience), by the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah, 22 who was taken up to Heaven, and is on the right hand side of Yehovah with spirit Messengers and authorities and powers subject to Him.

1st Peter 4: So if the Messiah has suffered for you in His physical body, you should arm yourselves with the same mindset, because everyone who “dies”, refrains from sinning, 2 so that they no longer live for the lusts of humanity, while they are in the body, but to do the will of Yehovah. 3 In your past lives, you spent enough time pursuing heathen desires, living in unbridled lust, drunkenness, carousing around in pagan feasts, in the worship of false aloha. 4 Now, in amazement, they blaspheme you, because you dont run with them in riotous living as in the past! 5 They’ll be compensated by Yehovah who will judge both the living and the dead. 6 This is why the Good News was also proclaimed to those who are now dead, so that they can be judged as those still in their physical bodies, and live according to Yehovah in the spirit.
7 The end of everything approaches, so be sound minded and watch prayerfully. 8 Above all else, have intense love for each another, because love covers a great number of violations of Yehovah’s Torah. 9 Be compassionate to strangers, without secretive complaints. 10 You should all serve each other with the gifts that you have received from Yehovah, as being good stewards of the many varied spiritual benefits of Yehovah. 11 Whoever speaks should speak the Words of Yehovah, and whoever serves, should serve with the ability that Yehovah has given them, so that in everything you do, Yehovah will be clothed with splendor, thru Yeshua the Messiah. Splendor and honor belongs to Them forever and ever. Aw-mane’.
12 Beloved, dont be surprised by the trials that happen to you as if something strange has happened to you, because these things are meant to test and refine you [1]. 13 Rather, be elated as you participate in the sufferings of the Messiah, so that you can also be elated when His splendor is revealed. 14 If you are harshly criticized because of the name of the Messiah, you should be glad, because the magnificent spirit of Yehovah rests on you. 15 But none of you should suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer. 16 Yet if someone suffers as a Christian [2], they shouldnt be ashamed, but they should praise Yehovah in that very name, 17 because the time of Judgment will come, and will begin in Yehovah’s own house [3], and if it begins with us, what will be the end state of those who dont obey the Good News of Yehovah? 18 If it is difficult for the righteous to enter life, how will the spiritually destitute and the sinner arrive?
19 Those who suffer living within the will of Yehovah, should dedicate themselves to Him, in virtuous behavior, as is due our faithful Creator.

[1] The phrase “for these things are meant to test and refine you” isnt in the Greek, or the Lamsa version. [2] The terms Christian and Nazarene were coined by unbelievers as derogatory terms for the disciples of Yeshua. The three places where Christian/s are used in the Testimony are always in the context of being used by the enemies of Yeshua, whereas disciples is used 269 times (KJV) in reference to themselves. [3] Probably a reference to Ezekiel 9:4-7

1st Peter 5: I admonish the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of the Messiah, and a partner in His majesty that will be revealed, 2 to feed the flock of Yehovah that’s committed to you, take care of it spiritually, not being forced to, but voluntarily, not due to greed for money, but willingly, 3 not bringing the flock under your authority, but by being a good example for them. 4 When the sovereign Shepherd appears, you’ll receive from Him a magnificent crown that never fades.
5 Young people, submit yourselves to your seniors, and clothe yourselves with humility, cooperating with each other, because Yehovah resists the arrogant, but is compassionate with the humble. 6 Humble yourselves under the powerful hand of Yehovah, and He’ll exalt you in due time. 7 Place all of your anxieties on Yehovah, because He cares for you.
8 Be calm and vigilant, because Satan your adversary is like a roaring lion, walking around looking for someone to devour. 9 So resist him, being steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same suffering happens to your friends in the world.
10 But the Aloha of compassion, who has called us by name into His eternal magnificence, by Yeshua the Messiah, who Yehovah has given to us, will strengthen us to sustain light suffering, and confirm us and establish us in Him forever. 11 Praise, dominion, and honor, belongs to Him forever and ever. Aw-mane’.
12 By Sylvanus, our faithful Friend, I have written to you these few things [1]. As a means of persuasion, I would testify that it is Yehovah’s genuine good will, so remain standing firmly in it.
13 The select assembly in Babylon greets you, as does Mark, my son. 14 Greet each other with a kiss “of Friendship”. Peace to all of you who are in the Messiah. Aw-mane’.

[1] The Lamsa Translation inserts that this letter is “my (Peter’s) opinion”.

The Testimony of Yeshua

2nd PETER (Gabriel Version)

2nd Peter 1: From Simon Peter, a servant and envoy of Yeshua the Messiah, to those who have obtained equally precious faith with us, thru the righteousness of Our Master and Life Giver, Yeshua the Messiah.
2 May compassion and peace increase in you by acknowledging our Master Yeshua the Messiah, 3 as the One who gives us everything that pertains to devout [theios] power, and Life by revering Aloha, by acknowledging the One who has called us by name into His own splendor and moral excellence. 4 Because of this He has given you very great and precious promises, so that by them you can become partners sharing the pure nature [theios] of Yehovah, after we escape the corruption of the lusts of the world.
5 While you strive for this, add to your faith moral excellence, and to moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and to knowledge, perseverance, and to perseverance, patience, and to patience, reverence to Aloha, sympathy, and to sympathy, love. 8 If you have these qualities, and they are increasing, you wont be lazy or unfruitful, in acknowledging our Master Yeshua the Messiah. 9 Anyone who lacks these things is blind or nearsighted [muopazo], and has forgotten the cleansing of their [autos] former sins.
10 So Friends, be extremely careful to make your invitation and selection sure by your good works. By doing this, you’ll never fall backwards. 11 So an entrance, abounding in resources will be provided for you, into the Everlasting Kingdom of our Master and Life Giver, Yeshua the Messiah.
12 This is why I am continually reminding you of these things, altho you know them well, and are established in this truth. 13 I believe that the right thing to do, as long as I’m in this body, is to stir your memories, 14 since I know that I’ll soon leave this body, as my Master Yeshua the Messiah has shown me. 15 I’ll be careful to ensure that after I depart from this life, you’ll always have a written reminder of these things,
16 because we have not followed artfully framed fables, in making the power and arrival of our Master Yeshua the Messiah known to you, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 He has received honor and praise from Yehovah the Father. A voice came to Him from the Excellent Majesty that said, “This is the Son I love very much, I’m very pleased with Him”. 18 We also heard the same voice from Heaven that came to Him, while we were with Him on the distinguished mountain.
19 We also have the certain teaching of prophecy, and you’ll do well if you look to it as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the Light Bringer arises in your minds. 20 But first of all you should know that no prophecy came into being due to anyone’s interpretation, 21 because prophecy never came by the will of humanity, but devout men led by Aloha spoke, as they were moved by the dedicated spirit.

2nd Peter 2: As false prophets arose in history, there will also be false teachers among you, who will by stealthiness introduce destructive sects [1], denying the Master who bought them and bring on themselves swift and eternal death. 2 Many will comply with their deadly ways, because these deceivers blasphemed [blasphemeo] the Way of truth. 3 In their greed and with well formed arguments, they’ll buy and sell you. Yet their sentencing, determined in the distant past, will not be delayed, nor will their utter destruction be delayed.
4 If Yehovah didnt spare His Angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartaroo [2] in chains of darkness, and restrained them in custody to be guarded until Judgment Day, 5 and didnt spare the ancient world, but rescued Noah, a herald of righteousness, and his family of eight, when He brought a flood on the world of the wicked, 6 and burned up the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and condemned them with an upheaval, making them an example for those who would consider living wicked lives later, 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was tormented by the filthy conduct of unrestrained wicked people, 8 (because that upright man living among them, was distressed in his righteous inner self [psuche (psyche)] every day, by seeing and hearing about their unrestrained deeds), 9 then Yehovah knows how to Rescue those who fear Him from suffering, but He’ll reserve the wicked for Judgment Day to be tormented, 10 and especially those who go after the mortal lusts of defilement and despise government. Daring and arrogant, they dont shudder with awe while they blaspheme the honorable, 11 whereas spirit Messengers greater than they in might and valor, dont bring blasphemous condemnations against them. 12 But these, instinctively illogical [a’logos] animals, that are born to be captured and destroyed, while blaspheming the things they dont understand, will be destroyed in their own moral decay.
13 They are people who will be compensated for their injustice, because their idea of fun is carousing during the daytime, they are spots and blemishes, reveling in self deception, yet feasting with you, 14 having eyes that are full of adultery, and never ending sins, enticing unstable minds, their own minds trained in greed, they are cursed offspring. 15 They’ve abandoned the right way, and have wandered astray in the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, 16 who was reprimand for abandoning the Torah by a dumb donkey, who spoke like a man and reprimanded the madness of the prophet.
17 They are dry wells, clouds driven by a storm, people destined for the vapor of darkness forever. 18 When they make flamboyant speeches devoid of truth, they seduce thru carnal and unbridled lusts, those who have almost escaped from those going astray. 19 They promise liberty, while they themselves are the slaves of corruption, because whatever overcomes a person is what enslaves them. 20 If after they’ve escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of our Master and Life Giver, Yeshua the Messiah, they are again entangled in them and overcome, their latter days [eschatos, ie eschatology] will be worse than any previous days. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the ways of righteousness, than after having become fully acquainted with them, to turn back from the pure Commandments that were delivered to them. 22 But the proven saying has happened to them: the dog returns to it’s vomit, and the swine that was washed to wallowing in the dung.

[1] Sect and heresy are the same word in Greek. [2] Tartaroo, mentioned only once, is the place where the wickedest angels are restrained from humanity.

2nd Peter 3: Beloved, I’m now writing you a second letter, again to stir up your honest minds with an admonition, 2 so that you’ll remember the words that were previously spoken by dedicated prophets, and the Commandments of our Master and Life Giver, delivered by the envoys.
3 First understand that scoffers will come in the latter days, pursuing their own lusts 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? Ever since our fathers fell asleep, everything remains just as it was from the creation in the beginning”. 5 They deliberately ignore that the Heavens have existed since antiquity, by the Words of Aloha, and that the continents rose up from the waters, after being submerged in water. 6 By means of this same water, the previous world was submerged again [deluged] and destroyed. 7 The Heavens and the earth that now exist are preserved by His Word, being attended to carefully until the fire of Judgment Day, and the destruction of the wicked.
8 But dear Friends, dont forget this one thing, that one day to Yehovah is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day [1]. 9 Yehovah wont delay His promises, as some leaders delay theirs, rather He perseveres patiently for your sakes, it isnt His purpose that anyone should be destroyed, but that everyone should receive a changed mind.
10 Yet the Day of Yehovah will come like a thieving false “minister in the time of moral stupidity and darkness [2], when the Heavens will suddenly pass by [3] with a great noise, and the former things will be dissolved by being set on fire, and the surface of the earth and everything being done there, wont be found [4].
11 Since all these things will be dissolved, what kind of people should we be in devout conduct, and in reverence, 12 anticipating and desiring the coming of the Day of Yehovah, when the Heavens being tried in the fire will be dissolved, and the former things being ignited will melt? 13 But we, according to His promise, expect new Heavens, and a New Earth where righteousness resides.
14 So, Friends, as you are looking forward to things, endeavor to be found living peaceful lives, without spots and blameless in His sight. 15 Consider that the endurance of the Master established eternal Life, just as our dear Friend Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you. 16 Also in all his letters, he wrote concerning these matters some things that are difficult to understand, and that those who are ignorant and unstable, twist, as they do with the other Writings [5], to their own destruction.
17 So, dear Friends, as you know these things beforehand, guard yourselves, so that you dont pursue error like those without the Torah, and fall from your steadfastness. 18 But be growing in compassion, and in the knowledge of our Master and Life Giver Yeshua the Messiah, and of Yehovah the Father. The majesty is His, both now and for the rest of eternity. Aw-mane’.

[1] Here is a good explanation, except for the conclusion, that obviously misfired. The end of this age is likely in 2027 AD! [2] Perhaps too much is being read into the figurative explanation of this “thief in the night” passage, but who doesnt equate the darkness of night with evil? [3]Parerchomai” could also refer to when the New Heavens will “2) come near, come forward, arrive”. [4] The Greek says that the earth (land) “will be burned up” instead of “wont be found”. Revelation describes widespread environmental damage, but not utter destruction. Malachi 4:5-6 predicts that Elijah will come and prevent the earth’s being “annihilated”. Matthew 24:29 describes the same type of cosmic events described here, as following the Tribulation, and that is precisely when the Day of Yehovah begins. Hebrews 1:10-12 describes the ultimate renovation of the universe! [5] “the other Writings” is how Young’s literal phrases this. “The Writings” is determined contextually to be the Hebrew Scriptures in the other 50 places in the Testimony, tho technically writings/scriptures is a generic word in other contexts. Here it compares Paul’s inspired writings with the (Hebrew) Writings, as being on equal footing as far as their rejection goes.
