Matthew 21-28 (with Strong’s numbers)

The Triumphant Entry

Matthew 21: As He approached Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, by the side of the Mount of Olives, Yeshua sent two of His disciples; 2 and told them, “Go into this village that is before you, and immediately you’ll find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to Me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him, ‘They are needed by our Master’, and at once he will send them here”. 4 Now all of this was done so that what was spoken by the prophet would be fulfilled, when he said: 5 “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Look, your King comes to you, meek, and riding on an donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey’”. 6 The disciples went, and did as Yeshua commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt. They placed their garments on the colt, and set Yeshua on it. 8 A very great crowd spread their clothes on the road, and others cut branches from the trees, and threw them on the road. 9 The crowds that went before Him, and that followed Him, shouted, “Hosanna to the son of David, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Master, Hosanna in the highest”. 10 As He entered Jerusalem, the whole city was astir, and they said, “Who is this”? 11 The crowds were saying, “This is Yeshua the prophet, who is from Nazareth of Galilee”.

Yeshua Cleanses the Temple

12 Yeshua entered the temple of Yehovah’, and drove out everyone who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the bankers* [1], and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 He said, “It is written, My house will be called the house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers”. 14 The blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15 When the leading priests and Pharisees saw the wonderful things that He performed, and the children shouting in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the son of David, they were incensed*! 16 They told him, “Do You hear what they are saying”? Yeshua told them, “Yes”. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of children and infants You receive due praise’?” 17 He left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and stayed there.

The Fig Tree Withers

18 In the morning, when He returned to the city, He was hungry. 19 He saw a fig tree along the way, and came to it and found nothing on it, except leaves. He said to it, “There will never be fruit on you anymore. Soon afterward the fig tree withered”. 20 The disciples saw that, and were astonished, and said, “How suddenly has the fig tree withered”! 21 Yeshua replied, “Assuredly, if there is faith in you, and you dont doubt, you will not only do something like this to a fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up, and fall into the sea’, and it will be done. 22 Whatever you ask for in prayer, believing, you’ll receive”.

Yeshua’s Authority is Doubted

23 When Yeshua came to the temple, the leading priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching, and told him, “By what authority are You doing these things? Who gave You this authority”? 24 Yeshua replied, “I will also ask you one question, and if you’ll tell Me, then I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John—where was it from, from heaven, or from men”? They deliberated* [1260, dialogizomai] among themselves, and said, “If we say, ‘From heaven’, He will ask us, ‘Why didnt you believe in Him’? 26 And if we say, ‘From men’, we are afraid of the crowd, for they all regard John as a prophet. 27 So they told Him, “We dont know”. Yeshua replied, “Then I wont tell you by what authority I do these things either.

The Analogy of the Two Sons

28 But how does it appear to you? A certain man had two sons; he came to the first and told him, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard’. 29 He said, ‘I will not’. But afterwards he was regretful and went. 30 He came to the other, and said the same to him. He said, ‘Yes master, I’ll go’, but he didnt go. 31 Which of these two did the will of his father”? They replied, “The first”. Then Yeshua said, “Most certainly, I tell you that tax extractors and prostitutes will enter the Kingdom of Yehovah before you. 32 For John came to you exemplary in righteousness, and you didnt believe him; but the publicans and prostitutes believed him; and when you had seen it, you still didnt *amend their ways* and believe in him.

The Analogy of the Wicked Sharecroppers

33 Hear another analogy*. “A certain landowner*, planted a vineyard, and enclosed it with a hedge, dug in it a winepress, built a tower in it, leased it to sharecroppers*, and traveled to a far off country*. 34 When the time for harvesting the fruit arrived, he sent his employees to the sharecroppers so that they could receive his portion of the fruit of the vineyard. 35 The sharecroppers grabbed his employees; beat one, and stoned another and they killed one. 36 Again he sent other employees, more numerous than the first, and they did the same to them. 37 At last he sent to them his son, for he said, ‘*They will be ashamed* when they see my son’. 38 But the sharecroppers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, ‘This is the heir, come; let’s kill him, and steal his inheritance’. 39 They grabbed him, took him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 So when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those sharecroppers”? 41 They replied, “He will utterly destroy them, and will lease the vineyard to other sharecroppers, who will give him the fruit of the harvest”. 42 Yeshua told them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected, has become the cornerstone, this is from Yehovah, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? 43 So I tell you that the Kingdom of Yehovah will be taken from you, and will be given to a people who will bear fruit. 44 Whoever will fall on this stone, will be shattered, but on whoever it falls, it will grind him to powder* [3039]. 45 After the leading priests and Pharisees had heard His analogies*, they understood that He was referring to them. 46 They wanted to arrest Him, but were afraid of the crowd, because they believed He was a prophet.

Matthew 22: Yeshua spoke again by analogies*, 2 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a feast for his son. 3 He sent his employees to call those who had been invited to the feast; but they wouldnt come. 4 Again he sent other employees, and said, ‘Tell those invited, Look, my entertainment is prepared, my bull and my cattle are slain, and everything is prepared; come to the feast’. 5 But they showed contempt, and went away, one to his farm, and another to his merchandise; 6 The rest seized his employees, and abused them, and killed them. 7 When the king heard about it, he was angry; and he sent his military forces, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his employees, ‘The feast is prepared, but those who were called* [2564] were unworthy. 9 So go to the *entrances into the city* [1327]; and invite to the feast everyone you find’. 10 The employees went out to the street entrances*, and gathered everyone they found, both bad and good; and the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 The king went in to see the guests, and he saw there a man who wasnt wearing *wedding clothes*. 12 He told him, “Friend, why did you come here without *wedding clothes*”? But he was silent. 13 Then the king said to the deacons* [1249, diakonos], “Bind his hands and his feet, and throw him into the outer darkness; there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. 14 For many are inviteded, but few are selected”. 15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might ensnare Him with His words. 16 They sent their disciples to Him, with Herod’s partisans, and told him, “Master, we know that You are truthful, and teach the way of Yehovah with truth, *without discriminating between men*, for you have no favoritism*. 17 So tell us, how does it appear to you; is it lawful to pay tribute money to Caesar, or not”? 18 But Yeshua knew their wicked scheme, and said, “Why do you *maliciously test* [3985] Me, you hypocrites? 19 Show me a tribute coin”. So they brought to him a denarius [1220]. 20 Yeshua asked them, “Whose image and inscription is this”? 21 They said, “Caesar’s”. So He said, “Then give Caesar’s things to Caesar, and Yehovah’s things to Yehovah. 22 When they heard it they were amazed; so they left Him, and went their away. 23 The same day some Sadducees came, and told him, “There is no resurrection* of the dead”. Then they questioned Him, 24 and said, “Master, Moses commanded us, that if a man dies childless, his brother must take his wife and raise up descendants to his brother. 25 Now there were with us seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died; and, as he had no children, he left his wife to his brother. 26 Likewise, the second, and the third, and thru the seventh. 27 Finally, the woman herself died. 28 So in the resurrection, to which of those seven will she be married? For they had all married her”? 29 Yeshua told them, “You are in error, from not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of Yehovah. 30 For in the resurrection of the dead, men dont take wives, nor are wives given to them; but they are as the holy Messengers of Yehovah in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead; havent you read what was spoken to you by Yehovah, who said, 32 “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob? Now He isnt the God of the dead, but of the living”. 33 When the crowd heard it they were astonished at His teaching. 34 When the Pharisees heard that He had, in essence, muzzled* [5392] the Sadducees, they gathered together; 35 and one of them, who was *Law professor* [3544], *maliciously testing* Him, asked, 36 “Master, which is the greatest Commandment in the Law”? 37 Yeshua told him, “You must love Yehovah your God, with all of your *intellectual endeavors* [2588], with all of your being* [5590], with all of your understanding* [1271], and with all your ability* [2479]. 38 This is the *most important* Commandment”. 39 The second, is like it, “You must love your neighbor as yourself”. 40 The Law and the Prophets *are summarized* [2110] by these two Commandments. 41 While the Pharisees were gathered, Yeshua questioned them, 42 and asked, “What *is your opinion* [1380] about, the Messiah? Whose Son is He? They replied, “The Son of David”. 43 He told them, “How then does David, by the Spirit, call Him Yehovah? for he said, 44 “Yehovah said to my Master, ‘Seat yourself at My right hand, until I put Your enemies under Your feet’”. 45 So if David calls Him Master, how is He His son? 46 No one was able to give Him an answer? From that day on, no one dared to question Him.

Matthew 23: Then Yeshua conversed with the crowd and with His disciples, 2 and said, “The Law professors and Pharisees sit in Moses seat [1]. 3 Now everything that Moses and the Law tell you to obey you must do; but dont *do the deeds and ordinances that they do*, for they say one thing, and do another. 4 They bundle heavy burdens, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves wont touch them with their finger. 5 Everything that they do is done for appearances; for they make their phylacteries broad, and extend the fringes of their garments. 6 They love the best seating at suppers and the best seats in the synagogues, 7 *salutatory greetings* [783] in the market places, and to be addressed by men as Rabbi. 8 But dont call yourselves Rabbi [2]; for One is your Master* [2519], and you are all brethren. 9 And dont call yourselves Father on earth; for One is your Father, who is in heaven. 10 Dont be called Master [1]; for One is your Master, the Messiah. 11 The greatest one among you will be your deacon* [1249, diakonos, servant]. 12 For whoever will exalt himself, will be *brought low* [5013]; and whoever *has a modest opinion of* himself, will be exalted. 13 I pity you, Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you devour the houses of widows and then feign righteousness by your long prayers. So you’ll receive greater condemnation. 14 I pity you Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you *close the entrance to* [2808] the Kingdom of Heaven on people; you dont enter yourselves, and those who might have entered you prevent from entering. 15 I pity you Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites; for you traverse land and sea to make one *convert to Judaism* [4339]; and when he is won, you make him twice the child of hell as yourselves. 16 I pity you blind guides; for you say, “Whoever swears by the temple, does nothing; but whoever swears by the gold that is in the temple, is under obligation”. 17 You blind fools, which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold? 18 Whoever swears by the altar, does nothing, but whoever swears by the oblation on it is obligated. 19 You blind fools, which is greater, the oblation, or the altar that sanctifies the oblation? 20 So he who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything that is on it. 21 He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by the One who lives in it. 22 He who swears by heaven, swears by throne of Yehovah, and by the One who sits on it. 23 I pity you, Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites; for you tithe your mint, anise, and cumin, but omit the graver matters of the Law: judgment, mercy, and fidelity, these you should do, without omitting those. 24 You blind guides, you strain out gnats, and swallow camels. 25 I pity you, Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, while within you are full of plundering* [724] and lack of *self control* [193]. 26 You blind Pharisees, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside will be clean as well. 27 I pity you, Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you are like whitewashed tombs that appear beautiful on the outside, but are full of the bones of the dead inside, and all impurity. 28 You also appear outwardly to men to be righteous; but within, you are full of hypocrisy [5272, hupokrisis] and *Lawlessness* [458 anomia]. 29 I pity you, Law professors and Pharisees, hypocrites; for you build the tombs of the prophets and you adorn the tombs of the righteous; 30 and you say, “If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we wouldnt have participated in spilling the blood of the prophets”. 31 So you are witnesses against yourselves that you are the children of the people who killed the prophets. 32 As for you, fill you up the measure of your father’s guilt. 33 You serpents, you race of vipers; how can you escape the condemnation of Gehenna*? 34 Look, I’m sending to you prophets, and wise men, and Law professors; some of whom you’ll kill and crucify, and some of them you’ll scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute them from city to city. 35 You will be seen with all the blood of the righteous that has ever been shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. 36 Assuredly, I tell you, that all these things will happen to this race*. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets, stoning those who are sent to you; often I would have gathered your children, as a hen gathers her young under her wings, but you refused. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate! 39 For I tell you, that you wont see Me from now on, until you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of Yehovah”.

[2] Dont be called “Rabbi” [4461], or “teacher” [2519], or “master” [also 2519], or even “Mister” (a derivative form) as a religious title, as in Master/Master/Father/Pastor/elder so-and-so.

Matthew 24: As Yeshua left the temple and was leaving, His disciples came to Him, showing Him the structure of the temple. 2 He told them, “Do you see all of these? Most certainly, I tell you that there wont be left here one stone on another stone, that isnt *thrown down*”. 3 As Yeshua sat on the Mount of Olives, His disciples approached, conversing among themselves and said, “Tell us when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age* [165, aion]. 4 Yeshua told them, “Be careful that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, and will say that I am the Messiah; and they’ll deceive many. 6 You will hear of warfare, and the rumors of war. But see that you arent frightened; for all of these things must come; but the end isnt yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, and epidemics, and earthquakes in various places. 8 But all these are only the beginning of anguish. 9 They will deliver you over to tribulation, and will kill you; and you’ll be hated by all nations, for the sake of My name. 10 Then many will be distrustful* [4624 skandalizo], and they will hate one another, and will betray one another. 11 Many false prophets will rise up and they will deceive many. 12 Because of the plethora [4129, plethuno] of Lawbreakers* [458], the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who perseveres to the end, will *be saved* [1]. 14 This *Good News* of the Kingdom will be taught* in all the world, for a testimony to every nation nations, and then the end will come. 15 When you see the sign of the abominable desolation that was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the Holy Place; then let the reader consider; 16 and then those who are in Judea should flee to the mountain [2]; 17 and the one who is on the roof should not come down to take what is in his house; 18 and the one who is in the field should not return to get his cloths. 19 But I pity the pregnant and nursing mothers, in those days. 20 Pray that your flight isnt during *stormy or rainy weather* [5494], or on the Sabbath. 21 For there will be Great Tribulation, such as hasnt been from the beginning of the world, until now, nor ever again. 22 Unless those days are curtailed, no flesh will remain alive. But, for the select’s sake, those days will be curtailed. 23 Then, if anyone tells you that the Messiah is here, or is there; dont believe it. 24 For there will arise false Messiahs, and false prophets [5578, pseudoprophetes]; who will exhibit great signs, so as to deceive, if possible, even the select. 25 Look, I have told you beforehand. 26 So if they tell you, “Look, He is in the desert”, dont go out, or, “Look, He’s in a secret chamber”; dont believe it. 27 As lightning comes out of the east, and then appears in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man. 28 Wherever the carcass is, that is where the eagles be gathered. 29 Immediately after the Tribulation* of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon wont show her light, and shooting stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be shaken. 30 Then the *miraculous sign* of the Son of man will be seen in heaven; and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, when they see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 He will send His Messengers* with a great trumpet and they will gather together His Select from the four winds, from one end of earth’s heaven to the other. 32 Learn an analogy from the fig tree. As soon as its branches become tender and it produces leaves, you’ll know that summer is imminent. 33 Similarly, when you actually see all of these things, know that He is near, even at the door. 34 I tell you for certain that the Israelite race* wont pass by*, until all of these things happen. 35 Heaven and earth will arrive* [3]; but My truths* wont pass away. 36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the Messengers* of heaven, but only My Father. 37 As the days of Noah were, so will be the arrival of the Son of man. 38 For as before the flood they were eating and drinking, taking wives and giving to husbands, up to the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they didnt know, until the flood came and took them all away; that is how it will when the Son of man arrives. 40 Then two will be in the field; the one will be taken, and the other left. 41 Two will be grinding at the mill; one is taken, and the other left. 42 So watch, since you dont know at what hour your Master comes. [4] 43 But realize that if the manager of the home had known in which watch the thief would come, he would have been awake, and wouldnt have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 So be prepared; for the Son of man will arrive at a time when few are expecting Him [5]. 45 So who is the faithful and wise employee, whom his superior has placed over his household, to give them their food on time? 46 Blessed is the employee who will actually be prepared* when his Master comes searching. 47 Most assuredly, I tell you, He will place him over everything that He has. 48 But if that employee, being wicked, says to himself, “My Master delays His coming”; 49 and begins to beat his fellow employees, and begins eating and drinking with drunkards; 50 the supervisor of that employee will come on a day that he isnt expecting, and in an hour he isnt considering, 51 and will cut him into pieces, and will assign him his portion with the hypocrites. There will be wailing and grinding of teeth.

[1] Unlike Hebrew and Greek, Aramaic really doesnt have a word for “salvation”. “Life” is as close as can be had. Physical salvage can be had now. Spiritual “salvation” will have to wait for the resurrection.

[3] Strong’s 3928, parerchomai, can mean both “pass away” and “arrive”! I believe that this wording is a play on the word, contrasting the future arrival of the New Heaven and the New Earth with the present and eternal nature of His words.

[4] This is a clue about the Feast of Trumpets that arrives the moment that the crescent new moon is sighted—the day and hour being somewhat of a surprise.

Matthew 25: Then the Kingdom of Heaven is foreshadowed as ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. 2 Five of them were wise, and five were foolish [1]. 3 The foolish took their lamps, but took no oil with them. 4 But the wise took oil in vessels, with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom was delayed [2], they all became drowsy and fell asleep. 6 At midnight there was an outcry, “Look, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him”. 7 Then all the virgins got up and prepared* their lamps. 8 The foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil; for, look, our lamps have gone out”. 9 The wise said, “We must refuse, because there isnt enough for us and for you; but go to those who sell, and buy some for yourselves”. 10 While they went to buy, the bridegroom came; those who were ready, went with him into the banquet house, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came, and said, “Director, director, open the door for us”. 12 But he answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, I dont know you. 13 So watch, because you dont know precisely the day or the hour. 14 For, as a man who took a journey, called his employees and entrusted them with his property. 15 To one he gave five talents; to another, two; and to another, one; to each according to his ability, then he immediately went on a journey. 16 The one who received five talents, went and did business* with them, and gained five more. 17 Likewise; the one with two talents gained two more by doing business*. 18 But the one who received one, went and dug in the ground, and hid his supervisor’s money. 19 After a long time, their supervisor returned, and reviewed their accounts. 20 The one who had received the five talents, came and brought five others; and said, “Boss, you gave me five talents; Look, I have gained five more by doing business*”. 21 His supervisor replied, “Well done good and faithful employee; you have been faithful with a little; I will set you over much more; enter into the joy of your supervisor”! 22 The one who had the two talents came, and said, “Boss, you gave me two talents; look, I have gained two more by trading them”. 23 His supervisor told him, “Well done good and faithful employee; you have been faithful with a little; I will set you over very much; enter into the joy of your supervisor! 24 Then the one who had received the one talent, came and said, “Supervisor, I knew that you are a stern man, harvesting where you havent sown, and gathering where you havent winnowed*; 25 and I was afraid, so I went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, here it is”. 26 His supervisor told him, “You wicked and lazy employee! You knew that I harvest where I havent sown, and gather where I havent winnowed! 27 You should have *randomly thrown* my money into the exchange; so that I could have come and demanded my property with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to the one who has ten talents. 29 For anyone who has will be given more, and they will have an abundance; but from the one who doesnt have much, even what they have will be taken away. 30 Throw the unprofitable employee into outer darkness; there will be weeping and clenching of teeth. 31 When the Son of man comes in His glory, and all His holy Messengers* with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His splendor. 32 All of the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will place the sheep on His right hand, and the goats on His left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, “Come, you blessed of My Father; inherit the Kingdom that was prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you gave Me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me a drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me home; 36 I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came for Me. 37 Then the righteous will ask Him, “Master, when did we see You hungry, and feed You or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger, and take You home? or naked, and cloth You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You” [3]? 40 The King will answer them, “Most certainly, I tell you, that inasmuch as you did anything for one of my little brothers, you did it for Me. 41 Then He say will to those on His left hand, “*Go back to your journey away from* [4198] Me, you are doomed into the everlasting fire that was prepared for the Devil and his angels. 42 When I was hungry you gave Me no food; when I was thirsty you gave Me nothing to drink. 43 When I was a stranger you didnt take Me home; when I was naked, and you didnt clothe Me; when I was sick and in prison, and you didnt visit Me. 44 Then they will answer; “Master, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and not minister to You? 45 Then He will reply to them, “Assuredly, I tell you, that inasmuch as you didnt do anything for one of these little ones, you didnt do anything for Me. 46 They will *go away* [565] for [1519] an everlasting penalty* [2851], but the righteous into everlasting life.

[1] The root word for “foolish”, Strong’s 3466, has to do with “1a) generally mysteries, religious secrets, confided only to the initiated and not to ordinary mortals”.

Matthew 26: When Yeshua was finished with His narrative*, He told His disciples, 2 “You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of man will be betrayed to be crucified. 3 Then the leading priests and the Law professors and the elders of the people gathered at the hall of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas. 4 They gathered and plotted against Yeshua, intending to take Him by treachery, and kill Him. 5 But they said, “Not on a Feast day, because there would be an uproar among the people”. 6 When Yeshua was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the potter* [1], 7 a woman came to Him there with a vase of very precious aromatic ointment, and she poured it on Yeshua’s head as He was reclining. 8 When His disciples saw it they were displeased, and said, “Why this waste”? 9 For this ointment could have been sold for much, and have been given to the poor. 10 But Yeshua knew their dissatisfaction, and told them, “Why do you trouble the woman? She has performed a good deed towards Me. 11 For you will always the poor with you; but I wont always be with you. 12 She has done this act of pouring the ointment on My body, as if it were for My burial. 13 I can tell you for certain, that wherever My *Good News* is proclaimed, in all the world, what she has done will be told as a memorial to her”. 14 Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the leading priests, 15 and told them, “What will you give me, if I will deliver Him to you”? They promised him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From that time on he looked for an opportunity to betray Him. 17 On the First Day of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Yeshua, and asked Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover”? 18 He told them, “Go into the city, to such a man, and say to him, ‘Our Rabbi says, My time approaches; NEAR* [4314] you [4571] I’ll institute* [4160, 2d1] the Passover with My disciples’”. 19 His disciples did as Yeshua directed them, and prepared the Passover. 20 When it was evening, He reclined with His twelve disciples. 21 As they were eating, He said, “It is certain that one of you will betray Me”. 22 It troubled them greatly. They each individually began to ask Him, “Master is it I”? 23 He said, “The one who dips his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. 24 The Son of man goes, as it is written of Him, but pity the man by whom the Son of man is betrayed. It would have been better for that man, if he he had never been engendered* [1080] or born [1080]”. 25 Judas the betrayer said, “Rabbi, is it I”? Yeshua told him, “You have said it”. 26 As they were eating, Yeshua took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to His disciples, and said, “Take this and eat it; this is My body”. 27 He took the cup, and offered thanks and gave it to them, and said, “Take this and each of you drink it. 28 This is My blood of the New Covenant that is *poured out* [1632] in behalf of many to *release them from the bondage* [859] of sins. 29 But I tell you, that I will no longer drink of this fruit of the vine, until the day in when I’ll drink *a new kind* [2] [3] with you in the Kingdom of Yehovah. Then they sang praises, and went toward the Mount of Olives. 31 Then Yeshua told them, “You’ll all be offended by Me tonight; for it’s written: “I’ll strike the shepherd, and the sheep of his flock will be dispersed”. 32 But after I have arisen, I’ll go before you into Galilee. 33 Cephas replied, “Tho all men consider You to be scandalous* [4624, skandalizo], I will never consider You scandalous*”. 34 Yeshua told him, “You can be certain that tonight, before the rooster crows, you’ll deny Me three times”. 35 Cephas replied, “If I must die with you, I wont deny You”, and all the disciples were in agreement. 36 Then Yeshua came with them to a place called Gethsemane; and He told His disciples, “Sit here, while I go and pray”. 37 He took Cephas and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be dejected and sorrowful. 38 He told them, “There is anguish in My body, even to death. Wait for Me here, and watch with Me”. 39 Going a little further, He fell face down, and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I choose, but as You will”. 40 He came to His disciples, and found them asleep, and He said to Cephas, “So, were you unable to watch with Me one hour? 41 Wake up, and pray, so that you dont fall into temptation. The mind is prepared, but the body is weak. 42 He went away a second time, and prayed, and said, “Father, if it cant be that this cup passes, unless I drink it, Your will be done”. 43 He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 He left them, and went again and prayed a third time, making the same request. 46 Then He came to His disciples, and asked them, “*Are you still sleeping and resting* [4]”? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Get up, let’s go. Look, the one who betrays Me has come. 47 While He was still speaking, Judas the betrayer, one of the twelve, arrived, and a great crowd was with him, with swords and clubs, from the leading priests and elders of the people. 48 Judas the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The One I kiss is the One, seize Him”. 49 Immediately* he approached Yeshua, and said, “Peace, Rabbi”; and kissed Him. 50 Yeshua told him, “My friend, is it for this you have come”? Then they came up, and seized Yeshua, and took Him. 51 Then, one of them with Yeshua stretched out his hand, and drew a sword, and struck an underling of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 52 Then Yeshua told him, “Return the sword to its place; for everyone who takes a sword, will die by a sword. 53 Dont you think that I could ask My Father to immediately assign Me more than twelve legions of holy Messengers? And He would. 54 But how else,would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that say it must be so? 55 At that time Yeshua asked the crowd, “Have you come out, as against a cutthroat, with swords and clubs, to take Me? I sat daily with you, and taught in the temple, and you didnt apprehend Me. 56 This happened, that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then the disciples all forsook Him and fled. 57 Those who apprehended Yeshua carried Him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the Law professors and elders were gathered. 58 Simon Cephas followed Him at a distance, to the high priest’s hall, and entered, and sat with the underlings inside, that he might see what would happen. 59 The leading priests and the elders and the whole crowd looked for witnesses against Yeshua, so that they could put Him to death; 60 but didnt find any. Many false witnesses came; and finally two others came forward, 61 and said, “This man said, ‘I can destroy the temple of Yehovah, and in three days rebuild it’”. 62 The high priest rose up and told him, “Arent You going to respond”? What about these who are testifying against you? 63 Yeshua was silent. The high priest told Him, “I adjure you by the living God, that You tell us if You are the Messiah, the Son of Yehovah”. 64 Yeshua told him, “You could say that”. But I’m telling you, that later you’ll see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of earth’s heaven. 65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need witnesses? Look, you have heard His blasphemy! 66 What do you think?” They replied, “He deserves* death”. 67 Then they spit in His face, and buffeted Him, and others struck Him, 68 and told him, “Prophesy to us, Messiah, who struck You”? 69 Cephas was sitting outside in the hall, and a certain girl approached him, and told him, “You were also with Yeshua the Nazarene”. 70 But he denied it before them all, and said, “I dont know what you’re talking about”. 71 As he went out onto the porch, another girl saw him, and told them, “This man was also there with Yeshua the Nazarene”. 72 Again he denied it with oaths and said, “I dont know the Man”. 73 A little later, those standing there came up and said to Cephas, “Certainly, you are one of them also; your speech confirms it”. 74 Then he began to curse and to swear, “I dont know the Man”. Immediately the rooster crowed. 75 Cephas remembered Yeshua’s statement to him, “Before the rooster crows, you’ll deny Me three times. Then he went out, and wept bitterly.

Matthew 27: In the morning, the leading priests and the elders of the people gathered and plotted against Yeshua, about how they might put Him to death. 2 They bound Him, and carried Him and delivered Him to Pilate, the governor. 3 Then Judas, the betrayer, when he saw that Yeshua was condemned, was very remorseful. He went and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the leading priests and elders. 4 He said, “I have sinned, by betraying innocent blood”. They replied, “What is that to us? See to it yourself”. 5 He threw down the silver in the temple, left, went out and hanged himself. 6 The leading priests picked up the silver, and said, “It isnt lawful to put it into the treasury, because it is blood money”. 7 So after discussing it they bought with it the potter’s field, for a place to bury strangers. 8 So that field is called the field of blood, to this day. 9 Then that which was spoken by the prophet [1] was fulfilled; “I took the thirty shekels of silver, the price of the Precious One, whom the children of Israel had priced; 10 I gave them for the potter’s field, as the Yehovah directed me”. 11 Yeshua stood before the governor. The governor asked Him, “Are you the King of the Jews”? Yeshua answered, “You could say that”. 12 When the leading priests and elders accused Him, He made no reply. 13 Then Pilate asked Him, “Dont You hear what they are testifying against You”? 14 But He didnt answer him, not even one word; and Pilate was greatly amazed. 15 On each Feast day, the governor customarily released to the people one prisoner; whoever they preferred. 16 They had in bonds a notorious* prisoner, named Bar Abas. 17 When they were gathered, Pilate asked them, “Who do you want for me to release for you, Bar Abas, or Yeshua who is called the Messiah”? 18 For Pilate knew that it was because of envy that they had condemned Him. 19 As the governor was sitting on his tribunal, his wife sent this message to him, “Have nothing to do with that just man; for I have suffered much today in a dream because of Him”. 20 But the leading priests and the elders persuaded the crowd that they should demand Bar Abas, and destroy Yeshua. 21 The governor answered them, “Which of the two should I release to you? And they said, “Bar Abas”. 22 Pilate told them, “What should I do to Yeshua who is called Messiah? They all replied, “Let Him be crucified”. 23 The governor asked them, “But what has He done that is evil? But they cried out all the more, “Let Him be crucified”. 24 When Pilate saw that it was availing nothing, but rather a riot was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the the crowd, and said, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Man; you see to it”. 25 All the people said, “His blood is on us, and on our children”! 26 Then he released to them Bar Abas; and scourged Yeshua with whips and delivered Him to be crucified. 27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Yeshua into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole regiment against Him. 28 They stripped Him, and put a scarlet military cloak on Him. 29 They wove a crown of thorns, and set it on His head, and put a reed in His hand. They bowed before Him, and mocked Him, and said, “Peace, King of the Jews”. 30 They spit in His face, and took a reed, and struck Him on His head. 31 When they had mocked Him, they took off His robe, and clothed Him in His own garments, and led Him out to be crucified. 32 As they went out, they found a man of Cyrene whose name was Simon. They forced him to carry His cross. 33 They came to a place which is called Golgotha, which is to say “The Skull”. 34 They gave him vinegar mixed with gall to drink. He tasted it, and wouldnt drink it. 35 When they had crucified Him, they distributed His clothing by lot. [A] 36 They sat down, and watched Him there. 37 They placed over His head the accusation against Him that said, “THIS IS YESHUA, THE KING OF THE JEWS”. 38 Two robbers were crucified with Him, one on His right hand, and the other on His left. 39 Those who passed by reviled Him, and shook their heads 40 and said, “You who would destroy of the temple, and rebuild it in three days, deliver Yourself. If you are the Son of Yehovah, come down from the cross. 41 The leading priests were also mocking Him, along with the Law professors and elders and Pharisees, 42 and said, “He gave life to others, but His own life He cant save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. [B] 43 He trusted in Yehovah; let Him rescue Him now, if He has pleasure in Him; for He said, ‘I am the Son of Yehovah’”. 44 In the same way the thieves who were crucified with Him, reproached Him. 45 From the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour. 46 About the ninth hour, Yeshua cried with a loud voice and said, “Eli, Eli; why have You forsaken Me”? [2] [C] 47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard it, said, “He calls for Elijah”. 48 Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave it to Him to drink. 49 But the rest said, “Wait, let’s see if Elijah comes to rescue Him”. 50 Then Yeshua cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51 Instantly, the curtain of the door of the temple was torn in half, from the top to the bottom, and the earth shook, and the rocks were split. 52 Graves were opened, and many bodies of Saints who slept arose, 53 After His resurrection they entered into the holy city, and appeared to many. 54 The centurion, and those who were with Him guarding Yeshua, when they saw the earthquake and the things that happened, feared greatly, and said, “Truly, this was the Son of Yehovah”. 55 Many women were there, looking on from a distance, the same who had followed Yeshua from Galilee, and had ministered to Him. 56 One of them was Mary of Magdala, also Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children. 57 When it was evening, a rich man came from Ramath, whose name was a Joseph, who was also a disciple of Yeshua. 58 This man went to Pilate, and begged for the body of Yeshua. Pilate allowed the body to be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a winding sheet of clean linen; 60 and laid it in his new tomb that was excavated in a rock. He rolled a great stone against the door of the tomb, and left. 6l Mary of Magdala, and the other Mary, who sat over against the grave were present. 62 On the next day, the day after the Day of Preparation [3], the leading priests and Pharisees gathered before Pilate, 63 and told him, “Boss, we remember that this deceiver said, while He was alive, ‘After three days, I will arise’”. 64 So order the tomb to be guarded until the third day, because His disciples might come and steal Him away at night, and tell the people that He has risen from the dead. The last delusion would be worse than the first. 65 Pilate told them, “You have soldiers, go and guard it as securely as you know how”. 66 They went and set a guard at the tomb, and sealed the stone.

This addition isnt found in four of the most ancient editions of the Aramaic Testimony, and it is put in the margin of the more modern editions. It was doubtless a modern addition to the Aramaic Testimony, borrowed from the Greek Translator.

Matthew 28: Sabbath evening, as the *first of the Sabbaths* [Sabbaton, 4521], began to *draw near*, Mary of Magdala, and the other Mary came to view the tomb. 2 Then there was a great earthquake, for a Messenger of Yehovah descended from heaven, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning; and His clothing was as white as snow. 4 Out of fear of Him the guards were astounded, and became as dead men. 5 The holy Messenger said to the women, “Dont be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Yeshua who was crucified. 6 He isnt here, for He has risen, as He predicted. Come and see the place where our Master was laid. 7 Then go quickly and tell His disciples, that He has arisen from the dead. Even now He is preceding you to Galilee, there you will see Him. Remember, I have told you. 8 They went quickly from the tomb, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples. 9 Yeshua met them, and told them, “Peace”. Then they came and clasped His feet, and worshipped Him. 10 Then Yeshua told them, “Dont be afraid, but go, tell My brothers, so that they will go into Galilee, and there they’ll see Me. 11 While they were going, some of the guards came into the city, and told the leading priests everything that had happened. 12 They gathered with the elders, and after meeting together, they paid off the guards with a considerable sum, 13 and told them, “Say that His disciples came and stole Him away at night, while we were asleep”. 14 If this should be reported to the governor, we will appease him, and see that you are not blamed. 15 They, having received the money, did as they were instructed. This story is common among the Jews to this very day. 16 The eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Yeshua had arranged for them to meet. 17 When they saw Him, they worshipped Him, but some doubted. 18 Yeshua came near, and told them, “All authority has been given to Me, in heaven and on earth. As My Father sent Me, so I send you. 19 So go and *convert disciples* among all nations, IN MY NAME [1]. 20 Teach them to observe everything that I have commanded you, knowing that I will be with you always, to the *very end of the age*”. Amen.
