MATTHEW 11-20 (with Strong’s Numbers)
Matthew 11: After Yeshua finished the instructions to His twelve disciples, He left to teach and herald* in their cities. 2 Now when John heard of the works of the Messiah, from prison, he sent an inquiry by his disciples, 3 asking Him, “Are You the One who comes, or should we expect another”? 4 Yeshua told them, “Go, tell John the things that you hear and see; 5 the blind see, the lame walk, the leprous are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead rise up, the needy hear the *Good News*; 6 and anyone who doesnt stumble because of Me is blessed”. 7 When they were gone, Yeshua began to ask the crowds about John, asking, “What did you go into the wilderness to see; a reed waving in the wind? 8 If not; what did you go out to see, a man clothed in soft* [1] clothing? Look, those who are clothed in soft clothing, are *among kings*. 9 If not; what did you go out to see, a prophet? Yes, I say and more than a prophet. 10 For this is the one of whom it is written, “Look, I will send My herald* before You, so that he can prepare the way before You”. 11 I tell you with certainty, “Among those born of women, there hasnt arisen anyone greater than John the Immerser; yet the little one in the Kingdom of the Heavens, is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Immerser, until now, the Kingdom of the Heavens *has been attacked* [971] by force, and the violent *continue attacking* [726] it. 13 For all of the Prophets and the Torah* prophesied until the time of John. 14 If you are willing, accept that this is the one who was to come. 15 Anyone who has ears to hear should listen! 16 But what can I compare this nation* [1074] to? It is like children, who sit in the marketplace and call to their friends, 17 and say, “We have sung to you, and you didnt dance, we have wailed to you, and you didnt lament. 18 For John came, neither eating and nor drinking; and they said, He has a demon. 19 The Son of man came, eating and drinking; and they said, ‘Look, a glutton, and a wino*, and a friend of tax extractors’* and sinners. But wisdom is *made righteous* [1344] by her works*”. 20 Then Yeshua began to criticize the cities that many of His powerful miracles were done in, yet they didnt *amend their ways*. 21 He said, “I pity you, Chorazin! I pity you, Bethsaida! For if the powerful miracles done there had been done in Tyre and Sidon, no doubt they would have *amended their ways* in sackcloth and ashes long ago. 22 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon, on Judgment Day, than for you. 23 You, Capernaum, exalted to heaven, will be brought down to sheol. For if those powerful miracles that were done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have survived* to this day”. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for the land of Sodom on the Day of Judgment than for you. 25 Then Yeshua said, “I praise you, O Father, God of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the experts* [4680] and the shrewd* [4908], and have revealed them to little children. 26 Yes, Father; for this seemed good to You. 27 My Father committed everything to Me. No one knows the Son, except the Father. Also, no one knows the Father, except the Son, and anyone that the Son wants to reveal Him to. 28 Come to Me, everyone wearied and heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take on My yoke, and learn from Me, that I am humble* minded; and you’ll find rest for yourselves; 30 for My yoke is virtuous, and My burden is light”.
[1] “Soft” [3120] often refers to “effeminate”.
Matthew 12: At that time Yeshua walked among the fields on the Sabbath; and His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck grain to eat. 2 When the Pharisees saw them, they told Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing things that arent Lawful to do on the Sabbath”. 3 But He replied, “Havent you read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: 4 how he went to the house of Yehovah, and ate the bread of the Yehovahs* table that wasnt Lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but solely for the priests? 5 Or havent you read in the Torah*, how that in the temple, the priests *Lawfully tread on* [1] the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 But I tell you, that One greater than the temple is here. 7 If you had known what this means, “I desire mercy, and not sacrifice”; you wouldnt have accused those who were blameless. 8 For the Son of man, is Master of the Sabbath”. 9 Yeshua went from there, and came to their synagogue. 10 A man was there whose hand was withered. They asked Him, “Is it Lawful to heal on the Sabbath”? so that they would *have a legal accusation* [2723] against Him. 11 He told them, “What person among you is there, who, if he has a sheep, and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, doesnt grab it and lift it out”? 12 Now, how much better is a human being than a sheep! So it is Lawful to do good on the Sabbath? 13 Then He told the man, “Stretch out your hand”. He stretched out his hand; and it was restored, like the other. 14 The Pharisees left and deliberated about how they could destroy Him. 15 But Yeshua knew it; and He left there. Great crowds followed Him; and He cured them all. 16 He warned them not to make His presence known; 17 so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled, who said: 18 “Look, My Servant whom I have chosen; My beloved, in whom I delight. I will put My spirit on Him; and He will *separate the good from the bad* [2920] from among all ethnicities* [1484, ethnos]. 19 He wont be contentious, nor clamorous, nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets. 20 He wont break a crushed reed; and the flickering wick He wont extinguish; until He forces judgment, bringing total victory. 21 All nations will trust in His name”. 22 Then they brought to Him a demon possessed man who was dumb and blind; and He healed him, so that the dumb and blind man both spoke and saw. 23 Everyone in the crowd was amazed, and asked, “Isnt this the son of David”? 24 But when the Pharisees heard about it, they said, “This guy doesnt cast out demons without the help of Beelzebub, the prince of demons.” 25 Yeshua knew their thoughts, and told them, “Every kingdom that is divided against itself will become desolate; and any house or city that is divided against itself wont stand. 26 So if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then could his kingdom stand? 27 So if I, by Beelzebub, cast out demons, then by whom do your children cast them out? So they will be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of Yehovah, then the *royal power of the Kingdom* [932] of Yehovah has come to you. 29 How can someone enter the house of a strong man, and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then he can plunder his house. 30 He who isnt with Me, is against Me, and he who doesnt gather with Me actually scatters. 31 So I tell you that any sin and blasphemy* [988, blasphemia] of humanity will be forgiven; except for blasphemy* against the Spirit, people wont be forgiven of that. 32 Whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven, but whoever says against the Holy Spirit wont be forgiven, either in this world nor in the world to come. 33 Either make the tree good, and its fruits good, or make the tree bad, and its fruits bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Offspring of vipers, how can you who are evil, speak good things? For whatever you fill your minds with, you say. 35 A good man brings good things from his cache, and a bad man brings bad things from his cache. 36 For I tell you, that for every idle word that people say, they will *pay for* [591] on Judgment Day. 37 For by your words you’ll be justified; or by your words you’ll be condemned. 38 Then some of the Torah* professors and Pharisees told him, “Master, we want to see a sign from You”. 39 But He replied, “A wicked and adulterous nation* [1074] demands a sign, but no sign will be given to it, unless it is the sign of Jonah the prophet. 40 Just as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, in the same manner, the Son of man will be in the inner part of the earth for three days and three nights. 41 The people of Nineveh will stand up in the Judgment against this *perverse nation* [1074], and will condemn it, for they *amended their ways* at the heralding* [2782] of Jonah, and now someone greater than Jonah is here. 42 The queen of the south will stand up on Judgment Day against this nation*, and will condemn it, for she came from the remote parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and now One superior to Solomon is here. 43 When an unclean spirit leaves a man, it wanders in places where there is no water, seeking comfort, but doesnt find it. 44 Then it says, “I will return to my house that I left. It comes, and finds it vacated, and swept clean, and set in order”. 45 So it goes and takes with it seven other spirits, worse than itself, and they enter and occupy it, and the end of that man is worse than his beginning. So it will be for this perverse nation. 46 As He spoke to the crowds, His mother and His brothers came and stood outside, and wanted to talk to Him. 47 Someone told him, “Hey, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, and want to talk to You”. 48 But He replied to the man who informed him, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers”? 49 He reached out His hand toward His disciples, and said, “Look, My mother, and look My brothers”! 50 For everyone who does the will of My Heavenly Father is My brother, and My sister, and My mother.
[1] The root word of Strong’s 953, (952) adds clarity to this seemingly contradictory passage. The root word, “bebelos”, means “Lawful to be trodden” or “common”, as well as the more popular rendering: “profane”.
Matthew 13: Later that day, Yeshua left the house, and sat by the seaside. 2 Great crowds gathered around Him, so that He set sail and seated Himself in a boat, as the crowd stood on the seaside. 3 He spoke with them at length*, by analogies* [3850]. He said, “Look, a sower went forth to sow. 4 As he sowed, some seed fell on the side of a path; and birds came and devoured it. 5 Other seed fell on rocky places, but because it lacked soil; it sprang up immediately, because there was no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun was up it wilted, and because it lacked roots, it dried up. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns shot up, and choked it. 8 Other seed fell on good ground, and bore fruits, some a hundred fold, some sixty fold, and some thirty fold. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear. 10 His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you speak them in analogies*”? 11 He told them, “Because, to you it is given to *learn about* [1097] the mysteries of the Kingdom of the Heavens, but to them it isnt given. 12 For the one who has, will be given more; and they will abound; but from the one who doesnt have, even what little he has will be taken from him. 13 For this reason I talk to them in analogies*, because they see and dont see, they hear and dont hear, nor understand. 14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who said, “By hearing you’ll hear, and wont understand; and by seeing you’ll see, and wont know; 15 For the minds of these people has grown fat, and with their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; otherwise they would see with their eyes, and would hear with their ears, and would understand with their minds, and would turn around, and I would heal them. 16 But your eyes are blessed, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. 17 Most certainly, I tell you that many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and didnt see it, and to hear what you hear, but didnt hear it”. 18 So hear the analogy* of the seeds. 19 When anyone hears the teachings of the Kingdom, and doesnt understand it, then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was sown in their minds. This is what was sown by the side of the path. 20 That sown on the rock, represents the ones who hear the truth*, and immediately receive it with joy. 21 Yet they have no roots, and are of short duration, and when there is trouble or persecution because of the truth*, they soon stumble. 22 That sown among thorns, are the ones who hear the word, but the cares of this world and the deceptiveness of riches, choke the truth*, and they bear no fruit. 23 But what was sown on good ground, represents those who hear My truths*, and understand and bear fruit, and yield: some a hundred fold, some sixty fold, and some thirty fold. 24 He related another analogy* to them: “The Kingdom of the Heavens is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 While people were asleep, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the plants shot up and ripened, then the tares also appeared. 27 The servants of the householder came, and told him, “Supervisor, didnt you sow good seed in your field? Why are there tares with it. 28 He told them, ‘An enemy has done this’. The servants asked him, ‘Would you like for us to go and pull them out’? 29 He told them, ‘No, because while you sort out the tares, you’ll also eradicate the wheat with them. 30 Let them both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, ‘Gather the tares out first, and bind them in bundles to be burned; but gather the wheat into my granary’”. 31 He related another analogy* to them: “The Kingdom of the Heavens is like a mustard seed that someone took and planted in their field. 32 This is the least of all seeds, but when it is grown, it is greater than all the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and nest in its branches”. 33 He spoke another analogy* to them: “The Kingdom of the Heavens is like leaven that a woman took and buried in three measures of meal, until the whole fermented”. 34 Yeshua spoke all of these things to the crowd in analogies*. He didnt say anything to them without analogies* 35 so that what was spoken by the prophet would be fulfilled, who said, “I will open My mouth in analogies*, I will utter things concealed from before the foundation of the world”. 36 Then Yeshua sent the crowds away, and went into the house. His disciples came to Him, and asked, “Explain to us the analogy* of the tares and the field”. 37 He told them, “the One who sows the good seed, is the Son of Yehovah. 38 The field is the world. The good seed are the children of the Kingdom, but the tares are the children of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is Satan. The harvest is the end of the age* [165], and the harvesters are the holy Messengers”. 40 As the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age*. 41 The Son of man will send His holy Messengers, and they will gather out of His Kingdom everyone *who set snares* [4625], and all the *Torah breakers* [458]; 42 and will cast them into a furnace of fire. There will be wailing and clenching of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun, in the Kingdom of their Father. Anyone who has ears to hear, let them listen. 44 Again, the Kingdom of the Heavens is like a treasure that is hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and, in his excitement, he went and sold everything that he had, and bought the field”. 45 Again, the Kingdom of the Heavens is like a merchant, who purchased expensive pearls. 46 When he found a pearl of great value, he went and sold everything that he had, and bought it. 47 Again, the Kingdom of the Heavens is like a fishing net that was thrown in the sea, and caught fish of every kind. 48 When it was full, they drew it to the seashore, and they sat down and culled them. The good they put into containers, and the bad they threw away. 49 So it will be at the end of the age. The holy Messengers* will go out, and will separate the wicked from the just; 50 and will throw them into a fiery furnace. There will be wailing and clenching of teeth. 51 Yeshua told them, “Have you understood all of these things”? They replied, “Yes Master”. 52 He told them, “So every Torah* professor who is instructed in the Kingdom of the Heavens, is like a man who is master of a house, who brings out from his treasures both new and old things”. 53 After Yeshua finished these analogies*, He left there. 54 He entered into His own city, and He taught them in their synagogues, in such a way that they wondered aloud, “How is it that He has this wisdom and these powerful miracles”? 55 Isnt this Man the carpenter’s son? Isnt His mother called Mary, and His brothers James and Joses and Simon and Judas? 56 Arent all of His sisters with us? Where did this Man get all of these things? 57 They were indignant with Him. But Yeshua told them, “No prophet is dishonored, except in his own city and in his own house”. 58 He didnt perform many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
Matthew 14: At that time Herod the Tetrarch heard of the fame of Yeshua; 2 so he told his servants, “This is John the Immerser; he has risen from the grave, this explains his doing miracles”. 3 Herod had arrested John, and thrown in chains in prison, because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife. 4 For John had told him, “It is unlawful for her to be your wife”. 5 He had wanted to kill him, but he was afraid of the people, because they thought of him as a prophet. 6 But at Herod’s birthday celebration, Herodias’ daughter danced before the guests, and she pleased Herod. 7 So he swore an oath to her, that he would give her whatever she asked for. 8 She, as she had been instructed by her mother, said, “Give me the head of John the Immerser*in a dish”. 9 It troubled the king, but because of the oath, and the guests, he ordered that it should be given to her. 10 He sent men and cut off John’s head in prison. 11 The head was brought on a dish and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother. 12 His disciples came and removed the corpse, and buried it; and they went and told Yeshua. 13 When Yeshua heard about it, He went alone on a ship to a deserted place. When the crowds heard about it, they followed Him by dry land from the cities. 14 When Yeshua disembarked, He saw great crowds, and He had compassion on them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, and told him, “This is a desert place, and it’s getting late. Send the crowds of people away, so that they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food”. 16 But He replied, “It isnt necessary for them to go. Give them something to eat”. 17 But they said: “We only have five loaves of bread and two fish”. 18 Yeshua told them, “Bring them here to Me”. 19 He ordered the people to sit on the ground. He took the five loaves of bread and two fish, and He looked toward heaven, and blessed them, and braking them in pieces, and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples placed them before the people. 20 Everyone ate, and was satisfied. They picked up what was left over of the broken pieces and filled twelve baskets 21 Five thousand men had eaten, as well as the women and children. 22 Immediately He had His disciples embark on a ship, and to go before Him to the other side, while He sent away the crowds. 23 After He had sent the crowds away, he climbed a mountain alone to pray. When it was dark, He was there alone. 24 The ship was far from land, in the middle of the sea, being battered by the waves; for they were going against the wind. 25 In the fourth watch of the night, Yeshua came up to them, walking on the water. 26 His disciples saw Him as He was walking on the water, and they were terrified, and they said, “It’s a ghost” [4625, phantasma], and they cried out in fear. 27 But Yeshua immediately said: “Have some courage. It’s me. Dont be afraid”! 28 Cephas replied, “Master, if it is You, order me come to You on the water”. 29 Yeshua replied, “Come”. And Cephas descended from the ship, and walked on the water toward Yeshua. 30 But when he saw the violent wind, he was afraid, and began to sink, so he shouted, “Master, rescue me”. 31 Immediately our Master reached out His hand, and caught him, and said to him: “You have so little faith! Why did you doubt?”! 32 As they stepped into the ship, the violent wind stopped raging. 33 Everyone in the ship, came and worshipped Him, and said, “You are truly the Son of Yehovah”! 34 Crossing over the sea, they landed in the region of Gennesaret. 35 The men there realized who He was; and they *sent messengers* [649, apostello] to all the villages around them; and they brought to Him everyone who was seriously sick. 36 They begged Him to let them touch a tassel [2899]of His upper clothing. And everyone who touched one was healed.
Matthew 15: Then Pharisees and *Law professors* who were from Jerusalem came to Yeshua, and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples abandon* [3845 the tradition of the elders, by not washing their hands before they eat”? 3 Yeshua replied, “And why do you abandon* the Commandments of Yehovah because of your traditions”? 4 For Yehovah has said, “Honor your father and your mother; and anyone who curses their father or mother should be put to death”. 5 But you say, ‘Whosoever says to their father or mother, “Whatever I have that could have helped you has been given as an offering to Yehovah”— 6 in essence, they dont have to honor their father or mother’ [1]. You try to nullify the Commandments* [1785] of Yehovah, for the sake of your traditions. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was *absolutely right* [2573] when he prophesied about you, when he said: 8 “These people honor Me in what they say, but their minds are far removed from Me”. 9 Their worship of Me is worthless, because they teach human *rules of conduct* [1778] as if they were doctrine. 10 He called out to the crowd, and said, “Listen and understand. 11 Nothing going into a person’s mouth makes them *Levitically unclean* [2840]. It’s what comes out of their mouth makes them *Levitically unclean*”. 12 Then His disciples came and asked Him, “Do You realize that the Pharisees were offended when they heard that teaching”? 13 He replied, “Every plant that My Father in heaven has not planted will be eradicated. 14 Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind person leads another blind person, they will both fall into a ditch”. 15 Simon Cephas asked Him, “Master, explain this analogy to us”. 16 He asked them, “Dont you understand yet”? 17 Dont you know that whatever enters the mouth, passeth into the stomach, and from there into the latrine*? 18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the mind; and that is what makes a person *Levitically unclean* [2840]. 19 For evil thoughts come from the mind, about adultery, murder, sexual perversion, theft, false witness, and blasphemy. 20 These are the things that make people *Levitically unclean* [2840]. But if someone eats without washing their hands, they are not *Levitically unclean*. 21 Yeshua left that area and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that region came forward and began to call out, “Have mercy on me, Master, Son of David; my daughter is miserably demon possessed”. 23 But He didnt say a word to her. And His disciples came and urged Him, “Send her away, because as she follows us she keeps shouting at us”. 24 But He answered, “I was only sent to the refugee* [622] sheep of the nation of Israel”. 25 Then she came and fell down before Him, and said, “Help me Master”. 26 Yeshua replied, “It’s not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the ‘puppies’” [2952]. 27 She said, “Yes Master, but even the ‘puppies’ eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ tables, and survive”. 28 Then Yeshua told her, “Woman, your faith is great! What you asked for will be done for you”. At that moment her daughter was cured. 29 Yeshua moved on from there, and on the seaside of Galilee He climbed a mountain, and sat down there. 30 Large crowds came to Him, bringing with them those who were amputees, crippled, blind, mute, disabled and many others, and quickly laid them down at Yeshua’s feet, and He healed them. 31 The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute talking, amputees* [5560] restored, the disabled walking, and the blind seeing. And they praised Yehovah of Israel. 32 Then Yeshua called His disciples, and told them, “I must have compassion on this group of people because they have remained with Me three days now, and they have nothing to eat. I wont send them away hungry, because they might faint along the way”. 33 His disciples asked Him, “Where can we get enough bread in the wilderness, to feed all of these people”? 34 “How many loaves of bread do you have”? They answered, “Seven, and a few small fish”. 35 Then He ordered the people to sit down on the ground. 36 He took the seven loaves and the fish, and gave thanks; then divided it up, and gave it to His disciples; and the disciples gave it to the crowds. 37 They all ate, and were satisfied. Then they they picked up the remaining pieces—seven full baskets. 38 Now those who had eaten were four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 After He sent the crowds away, He boarded a ship, and went to the region of Magdala.
[1] Both Murdock and Lamsa accidentally put “dont have to honor their father or mother” in verse 5.
Matthew 16: The Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Him. They demanded* [1905] that He show them a miraculous sign from heaven. 2 But He replied, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is glowing’. 3 And in the morning you say, ‘it will storm today because the sky is glowing and overcast’. You hypocrites, you can discern signs in the sky, but you have no discernment of *the time when things are brought to a crisis* [2540]. 4 A wicked and adulterous people look for a miraculous sign. But the only sign they will be given is the sign of the prophet Jonah”. Then He left them behind* and went away. 5 Later, His disciples went to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6 He told them, “Become acquainted with* [3708] and *be aware* [4377] of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”! 7 They began to discuss this among themselves, concluding that He had said this because they hadnt brought any bread. 8 But Yeshua, aware of this, said, “You of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves that you have no bread? 9 Dont you understand? Dont you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you picked up, 10 or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you picked up? 11 How is it that you dont understand that I wasnt talking about bread? But to *be aware* of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees”. 12 Then they understood that He wasnt saying to *be aware* of the leaven in the bread, but to *be aware* of the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. 13 When Yeshua came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is”? 14 They said, “Some are saying that You are John the Immerser*; but others, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets”. 15 Then He asked them, “But who do you say I am”? 16 Simon Cephas answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God”. 17 Yeshua replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of Jonas; for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father in the heavens. 18 Also I tell you that you are Cephas; and upon this rock I will REbuild* my Assembly; and the gates of sheol will not triumph over it. 19 I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of the Heavens; and whatever you forbid* [1210] on earth will have already been forbidden* in heaven, and whatever you permit* [3089] on earth will have already been permitted* in heaven. [1] 20 Then He admonished the disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Messiah. 21 From that time on, Yeshua began to show His disciples that He would have to go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly because of the elders, the leading priests, and the *Law professors*. Then He would be killed, but on the third day He would be *raised to life*. 22 Cephas took Him aside and began to lecture* Him. He said, “*Absolutely not*, Master! This will never happen to You”. 23 But He turned, and told Cephas, “Get behind Me Satan! You are an impediment* to Me, because you are not thinking Yehovahs thoughts but human thoughts”! 24 Then Yeshua told His disciples, “If anyone wants to follow Me, they must *forget their own interests* [533]; and pick up their own cross, and follow Me. 25 Those who choose to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives because of Me will discover* them. 26 What profit will a person have if they gain the whole world, if they forfeit their eternal life? Or what can a person give in exchange for their life? 27 For the Son of man will return* [2064] in the splendor* of His Father, with all His *holy Messengers*; and then He will COMPENSATE EVERYONE ACCORDING THEIR THEIR DEEDS [4234]. 28 I can tell you with certainty that some of you who are standing here will not die until you see the Son of Man coming with* [1722] His Kingdom”!
[1] None of the early Christian writers wrote of hierarchical church government—known among Catholics as papal primacy, infallibility, pre-eminence, jurisdiction, etc. Local elders managed local affairs in the Assemblies.
Matthew 17: Six days later, Yeshua took Cephas, James, and his brother John and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 Yeshua was *supernaturally transformed* [3339, metamorphoo] before them; and His face shone like the sun; and His clothing became as white as light. 3 Then Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Yeshua. 4 Then Cephas told Yeshua, “It’s good that we’re here. If you want, I’ll put up three booths—one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”*. 5 He was still speaking when a bright cloud overshadowed them. Then a voice came from the cloud and said, “This is My beloved Son, whom I love and with whom I am pleased. Listen to Him”! 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground in terror. 7 Yeshua came up to them and touched them, and said, “Get up. Dont be scared away”. 8 When they looked up they didnt see anyone except Yeshua by Himself. 9 On their way down the mountain, Yeshua instructed them, “Dont tell anyone of the *ecstasy you have witnessed* [3705]. Wait until the Son of Man has arisen from the dead”. 10 So the disciples asked Him, “Why do the *Law professors* say that Elijah must come first”? 11 Yeshua answered, “Elijah is indeed coming and will restore all things. 12 And I tell you that Elijah has already come, yet they didnt recognize him, and treated him however they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands”. 13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Immerser. 14 When they came to a crowd, a man came up to Yeshua, and knelt in front of Him, 15 and said, “Master, have mercy on me, because I have a son who is an epileptic and suffers terribly. Often he falls into fire or into the water”. 16 I brought him to Your disciples, and they couldnt heal him. 17 Yeshua answered, “You unbelieving and antagonistic* [1294] race* [1074, genea]! How long will I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him here to Me”! 18 Yeshua rebuked the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed immediately. 19 Then the disciples came to Yeshua privately and asked Him, “-Why couldnt we heal [1] him”? 20 Yeshua told them, “Because of the weakness of your faith. I tell you with certainty, if you have faith like a single mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from this place to that place,’ and it will be removed, and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 But this kind of demon does not leave without prayer and fasting”. 22 While they were staying in Galilee, Yeshua told them, “The Son of man will be betrayed into the hands of men. 23 They will kill him; but on the third day He will be *raised from the dead* [1453]”. This saddened them deeply. 24 When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the temple tax came to Peter, and they asked him, “Doesnt your teacher pay the temple tax”? 25 He answered “Yes”. And when Cephas entered the house, Yeshua anticipated his questions, and asked, “What do you think, Simon? Who do the kings of the earth collect *sales taxes* [5056] and *property tax* [2778] from, from their sons or from strangers”? 26 Simon replied, “From strangers”. Then Yeshua said, “Then the sons are exempt”. 27 But so that we dont offend them, go to the sea and throw in a fishing hook. Open the mouth of the first fish that springs up, and you will find a silver* stater [coin]. Take it and give it to them for both me and you.
[1] The Aramaic refers to “healing”, while the Greek refers to “casting out”.
Matthew 18: At that time the disciples approached Yeshua, and asked, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of the Heavens”? 2 Yeshua called a child, and had him stand among them, 3 Then He said, “I tell you with certainty, unless you *change your course* [4762] and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of the Heavens”. 4 So whoever humbles themself as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of the Heavens. 5 And whoever befriends* [1209] a child like this, in My name, befriends* Me. 6 But whoever causes one of these little ones, who believe in Me, to be ensnared—it would be better for them to have a millstone hung around their neck, and to be plunged in the depth of the sea. 7 I pity the world because of its snares* [4625]! For *snares will certainly be set*; but I pity the person who sets the snares*! 8 So if your hand or your foot entices you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have both hands or both feet, but be thrown into the fire of the Ages [1]. 9 And if your eye is causing you to sin, rip it out and throw it away; because it is better for the one-eyed to enter into life, than to have both eyes, but be thrown into the fire of Gehenna* [1067, geenna]. 10 See to it that you dont *think little* of one of these little ones, because I tell you, their holy Messengers in heaven are always *within sight of* [991] My Father in the heavens. 11 For the Son of man came to save the lost. 12 What do you think? If someone has a hundred sheep, and one of them has strayed, doesnt he leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that strayed? 13 If he finds it, I can say with certainty that the shepherd will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didnt stray. 14 In the same way, it is not the will of your Father in the heavens, for one of these little ones to perish. 15 So if your brother sins against you, go and confront him in privacy. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. 16 But if he doesnt listen, take one or two others with you so that any accusation can be verified by two or three witnesses. 17 However, if he ignores them, tell it to your Jewish* assembly [2]. If he also ignores the assembly, regard him as a heathen* and a tax extractor. 18 And I assure you that whatever you forbid* [1210] on earth will have been forbidden* in heaven, and whatever you permit* [3089] on earth will have been permitted* in heaven. 19 Furthermore, I tell you with certainty that if any two of you agree on earth about anything you request, it will be done for you by My Father in the heavens, 20 for where two or three have Assembled together in My name, I am among them. 21 Then Cephas approached Him, and asked, “Master, if my brother sins against me, how many times must I disregard* [863] it, as many as seven times”? 22 Yeshua replied, “I dont tell you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23 This is how the Kingdom of the Heavens can be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his slaves. 24 When he began to settle them, they brought in a debtor who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But he didnt have the means to repay, so his master ordered him to be sold, as well as his wife and children and everything that he owned, so that repayment could be made. 26 So the slave fell to the ground, as a token of reverence before him, and said, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything’. 27 The master of that slave was moved with compassion and set him free, and cancelled his debt. 28 But then that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him, and while choking him, he told him, ‘Pay me what you owe’. 29 So his fellow slave fell to his feet and began to plead with him, and said, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you everything’. 30 But he refused and went and had him thrown in prison until he could repay what he owed him. 31 When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were very agitated, so they went and explained to their master everything that had happened. 32 Then his master sent for him and told him, ‘You wicked slave! I canceled your entire debt for you because you begged me. 33 Shouldnt you have have had compassion on your fellow slave, as I had compassion on you?’ 34 Then his master became angry and handed him over to the the inquisitors* [930] until he could repay his entire debt. 35 My Heavenly Father will deal with each of you in the same way, unless you endeavor* [2588] to disregard* your brother’s *deviations from righteousness* [3900].”

[2] There was no “church” at this time—nor any clue that there would be one!
Matthew 19: Now when Yeshua finished saying these things, He left Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond of the Jordan. 2 Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them there. 3 Some Pharisees came to Him, attempting to *entice Him to sin* [3985]. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all”? 4 He replied, “Havent you read that the One who created made them, originally* [746] made them male and female”? 5 He said, ‘That is the reason why a man should leave his father and mother and be “glued”* [4347] to his wife, and the two will be one being* [4561]’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one being*. So what Yehovah has yoked* [4801] together shouldnt be separated by humanity*”. 7 Then they asked Him, “So why did Moses order us to deliver a written bill of divorce to divorce her”? 8 He replied, “Because of your hardened mentality, Moses was instructed to allow you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it was not that way. 9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, other than for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery”. 10 His disciples replied: “If that is the sole reason* [156] for divorce between a man and his wife, it’s better not to get married”. 11 But he told them, “Not just anyone can accept this teaching—only those to whom celibacy has been entrusted. 12 For there are some men are celibate because they were born that way. Some are celibate because they were castrated. Still others live in celibacy for the sake of the Kingdom of the Heavens. Anyone who is able to accept this, let him accept it”. 13 Then some children were brought to Him so that He would lay His hands on them and pray; but the disciples interfered with them. 14 But Yeshua told them, “Allow the little children to come to me, dont keep them away; because the Kingdom of the Heavens belongs to people like them”. 15 He laid His hand upon them, and then left. 16 Someone came to Him and asked, “Good Teacher, what good thing must I do to obtain eternal life”? 17 He replied, “Why call Me good? No one is good but the one God. But if you want to enter into life, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS [1]”. 18 Then he asked, “Which ones”? So Yeshua told him, “Never murder. Never commit adultery. Never steal. Never give false testimony. 19 Honor your father and your mother; and you must love your neighbor as yourself” [2]. 20 The young man told Him, “I have obeyed all of these from my childhood. *What else* [5302]? There must be more* [2089]”. 21 Yeshua told him, “If you want to be perfected, go and sell what you own, and supply* the poor; and you will have a treasure in heaven. Then *come back here immediately* [1204] and follow Me”! [3] 22 When the young man heard these words, he went away grieving; because he owned a lot of property. 23 Yeshua told His disciples, “I tell you,0 it will certainty be difficult for a rich person to gain entry [2064] into the Kingdom of the Heavens”. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier to pass a rope* [4] thru the eye of a needle, than for the wealthy* to gain entry into the Kingdom of Yehovah”. 25 When the disciples heard this, they were very astonished, and asked, “Then who can be saved”? 26 Yeshua looked at them intently and said, “With humans it is impossible, but with Yehovah anything is possible”. 27 Then Cephas asked Yeshua, “Look, we have forsaken everything to follow You. What *will become* [2071] of us”? 28 Yeshua told them, “I tell you with certainty, that as for you who have followed Me, when the Son of man sits on His magnificent throne on the *Renewed Earth* [3824], you will also sit on twelve thrones, *presiding over* [2919] the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 Everyone who has had to abandon their homes, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, or fields because of My name will receive a hundred times as much, and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are now *first in influence* [4413] will be last, and many who are now last will be first”.
[1] This is the world’s most important question and answer! The explanation would shock you!
[2] These are the five “love your neighbor” Commandments. The first four Commandments are the “love your God” Commandments, and the last Commandment applies to yourself. Again, this greatly overlooked means of obtaining eternal life is explained in The Called, the Culled, and the Excused.
[3] He was offered the opportunity to serve with the other twelve.
[4] See why it’s rope rather than camel. Key words: “a camel”.
Matthew 20: For the Kingdom of the Heavens is like a landowner, a householder, who went out at dawn to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 He contracted with the laborers for a denarius a day, and sent them into his vineyard. 3 He went out at the third hour and saw others standing idle in the market place. 4 He told them, “You go into my vineyard, too, and I will pay you whatever is fair”. So they went. 5 Again he went out at the sixth and ninth hours, and did the same. 6 About the eleventh hour, he went out and found others who were standing around; and he asked them, “Why have you been standing here instead of working all day”? 7 They told him, “Because no one hired us”. So he told them, “You go into the vineyard too, [1] and you will receive what is fair”. 8 That evening, the owner of the vineyard said to his land manager, “Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last hired and proceeding to the first”. 9 When those hired about the eleventh hour came, they each received a denarius. 10 When those first hired came, they thought that they would receive more; but they also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they complained to the householder. 12 They said, “These last men have worked only one hour, but you have treated them as our equals, tho we have borne the burden of the scorching heat all day”. 13 But he answered one of them, “Clansman* [2083], I’m not treating you unfairly. Didnt we contract for a denarius? 14 Take what belongs to you and go. I want to give to the last men as much as I gave you. 15 Isnt it legal for me to do what I want to with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because of my generosity”? 16 So the last will be first, and the first last, [2] for many are invited* [2822], but few are selected* [1588]. 17 As Yeshua was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took His twelve disciples aside, along the way, and told them: 18 Look, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be handed over to the leading priests and *Law professors*, and they will condemn Him to death. 19 They will hand Him over to the heathen* to mock and scourge and crucify Him, but on the third day He will be *raised from the dead* [450]”. 20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Yeshua with her sons. As she bowed down she made a request of Him. 21 He asked her, “What do you want”? Then she asked Him, “Tell me that my two sons will sit, one on Your right side and one on Your left, in Your Kingdom”. 22 But Yeshua replied, “You dont realize what you’re asking for. [3] Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be immersed with the immersion that I am immersed with”? And they told Him, “We can”. 23 He told them, “You will indeed drink from My cup [4] and will be immersed* with the immersion* that I am immersed* with. But whether you will be seated at my right hand or at my left is not for Me to decide. Those determinations are made by My Father. 24 When the ten heard this, they were angry with the two brothers. 25 Yeshua called them, and told them, “You know that the rulers of other ethnicities* hold them in subjection and their ranking men exercise authority over them. 26 It wont be that way among you, because whoever wants to become “great” among you will be your servant: [1249, diakonos]; 27 and whoever wants to be first among you will be your slave [1401]; 28 just as the Son of Man didnt come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as the *price for freeing for many slaves*” [3083]. 29 As Yeshua was leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. 30 Two blind men who were sitting beside the road when they heard that Yeshua was passing by. So they shouted, “Have mercy on us, Master, Son of David”! 31 The crowd scolded them so that they would be quiet, but they cried out all the more, “Master, Son of David, have mercy on us”! 32 So Yeshua stopped and called out to them, “What do you want Me to do for you”? 33 They told Him, “Master, we want our vision restored”. 34 He was moved with compassion for them, and touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their vision and followed Him.
